You smell smoke when your feet hit the parking lot (if you can find a parking spot)! During the work week, the lunch time crowd is thick-so get there early. Easy to taste that this meat is high quality before it touches the grill.
The BRISKET is a must! Bacon burnt ends……insane!
The RIBS check all the boxes - large, seasoned to perfection, cooked with intention and can eat them with your eyes. The mahogany bark is what every weekend, back-yard bbq’er hopes for.
I’m not a turkey fan but I was able to eat a slice and I’m glad I did. Smokey and moist. I would get it again.
COLLARD GREENS. I’m picky about my greens. You’re going to want to try these. And by try I mean order them as your second side. They are cooked correctly and with pork belly! Wow. Whew. So good.
They have potato salad and mashed potatoes which are both good and worth getting. I personally don’t like slaw so I haven’t tried it.
I don’t usually find the cook/chef/pit master unless I believe it’s the best in the state.
All of the staff are friendly like family, knowledgeable and professional. This place was clean and inviting. Clean restrooms. Wrights has a diverse menu with a banana pudding should you need the sweet.
Easily a top choice when visiting the capital city.

Read moreTake the stars for service and atmosphere in context- I'm not ranking it against Arthur's Prime, just amongst BBQ joints. BBQ can be very subjective, especially between hard-core fans. I have long believed the best BBQ in town is Whole Hog. I still love 'em but Wright's is banging on the door. I got the 2 meat/2 side tray for $23. Sounds a bit pricey but considering I'll get 2-3 meals out of that much food, it's a good deal. This is Arkansas so the first test is the pulled pork. Smokey and luscious, sweet and fatty, pit master knows what he is doing. Same for the brisket, you can just look at it and know it's cooked right. 3 sauces, sweet/bold/spicy. The bold is good, I might wish the spicy was a little spicier but it does feature black pepper which I love in a sauce. Really good sauce. I tried the cole slaw which was very fresh cabbage with a serious vinegar hit I was very happy with. And then the BBQ beans. The first thing I taste sitting down at a new BBQ place is the beans. If you can't do the beans right, you are in the wrong business. Wright's may have some of the best beans I've had. Smokiness, texture, sweetness, sauce (and black pepper). This is World Class BBQ. I hope they get on a delivery...
