This place is a big NO for us. I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to issue a fair warning about this restaurant. We eat a lot of sushi, and have been to a fair share of tapas restaurants - so we're not newbies. We were excited to have a new place to try in the neighborhood, and the remodel looks beautiful.
BUT...the whole feel once you're settled in is needlessly fussy and pretentious. We were really hungry, and tried to order two sets of tapas to begin with, and were told they like to bring out just one place at a time. They brought out a tuna and endive plate first, which could not have contained more than 50 calories. The night continued in this vein -- getting a tiny bit at a time. All of their items were VERY low in calories, and extremely small portions - (even the tapas were very low caloric content). They acted like the fish was some higher than normal grade of sushi, which would justify the very tiny bit of sushi. Let's face it: EVERY sushi restaurant that wants to survive must serve extremely fresh, high grade sushi. So there was nothing special here. They also do not bring out soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger, and acted put out that we requested it -- as if we were asking to put A-1 sauce on a fine filet mignon. I just really hate it when we're treated prententiously in a restaurant.
We literally gave up on this place and asked for the check. We had been there for at least an hour, and we were just getting SO little food, trickled out in tiny portions.
My daughter is studying to be a nutritionist, and can easily estimate caloric values. For our $75, the three of us probably only ate 100-150 calories each -- TOTAL. We literally swung by a Chinese place and got take out on the way home, because of COURSE we were still hungry.
Again, this place is expensive, pretentious, and fussy. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in a middle class area, so their concept is all wrong. Give people good food at a good value!
Gotta go eat the Chinese food now, since our $75 appetizer just...
Read moreThis was some of the most delicious Japanese food I have had in a long time. If I could eat the omakase everyday I would. This is the kind of food that makes you want to move to japan. I was truly blown away by the quality of the food. And the owner took time to come and talk with me and made me feel special and welcome. My only qualms would be my server didn't seem to want to serve us. He ignored us for quite some time before he was willing to take an order. I think perhaps he was annoyed because we were a three top including a child during a busy night and he wanted a four top little did he know we were going to spend a lot of money and his mood did improve the more I ordered as the night went on he seemed much nicer when he realized he was probably going to make a good tip after all but it's not fair that you are treated accordingly to how much money you are going to give them. All customers should feel welcome. I would go back tonight for dinner but I would be afraid to get the same server for my server. It makes me feel anxious to go out at all tbh. But at least the owner and the manager were very nice to me and the food was impeccable. Highly recommended to anyone who loves good Japanese food and is looking for a five-star experience however they should upgrade their service to reflect the quality of their food. Because that was a bit of a miss for me. And I am a former server myself and I have been even recommended by my coworkers that I should ignore customers because they're not going to tip well and I never did that I always treated everybody with kindness and respect across the board. So that is what I expect when I come to a restaurant regardless of how much money I'm spending or not....

We opted for the $100 per person omakase with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was only moderately enjoyable. In fairness, the duck liver, A4 Wagyu, and the smoked caviar nigiri were exceptional. The flavors were incredibly rich and the texture of the meat was tender, approaching perfection.
The dining experience at the establishment, while priced at a premium of over $100 per person, fell short of expectations in several key areas. Firstly, the staff demonstrated a lack of attention to detail, failing to remember dietary restrictions and causing unnecessary delays in service. Secondly, the omakase experience lacked the expected level of engagement, with no explanations or insights provided about the dishes, beyond their origin and name. Lastly, the pacing of the meal was unsatisfactory, with extended waiting periods between courses, resulting in a disjointed and unenjoyable dining experience. Additionally, an intoxicated individual disrupted our meal, and the staff failed to adequately address the situation. Lastly, we anticipate the server to be knowledgeable about the dishes they are serving. While it is understandable that human error can occur, the frequency with which they had to check with someone else, resulting in prolonged waiting times, was excessive. Comments such as "I think that's the blue fin" or "it looks like..." were unprofessional, especially considering the price point of the establishment.
Overall, for the price paid, the restaurant provided a limited selection of nigiri, but the most prominent shortcomings were the service and...
