Scoops Hand Dipped Ice Cream, LLC — Restaurant in Live Oak

Great ice cream! However, even though the online hours posted are until 9 PM and the owner mentioned last time we visited that they close at 9 on weekends now, we were rushed out tonight (Friday, 2/21) at about 8:30. They turned most of the lights and the music off, and I could see the girls continuing to stare at my family and talk quietly from behind the counter right next to our table. We asked about the hours because we weren’t trying to be rude and were met with a vague answer about winter vs summer hours, and that they actually close at 8 but it’ll be 9 when it gets warmer, which didn’t match what the owner had told us previously. We came in after 8 and they were still open, so it didn’t make sense they were trying to make it seem as if they had already closed.

5 stars still because we usually have a great experience here and the owner is wonderful! but tonight made us feel unwelcome. Hopefully...

UPDATE: Excellent friendly service, and a nice selection. We vote that you add some racks for placing the cones while paying. Your tips will go up if our hands are free. Just sayin'. ORIGINAL REVIEW -Scoops is a great addition to our small town. The ice cream is first rate, friendly service, and very clean. Beware when ordering scoops. Each is huge, and our two-scoop bowls were more than we could finish. They need a menu board. Basically the only clue is the flavors of ice cream on the glass. No sizes or prices. I'd suggest they get an electronic menu board (basically a TV). Easy to update when they run out of a flavor. I'm sure they'll figure it all out. Everybody was working...

I've been to Scoops twice now, and both visits have been fantastic! The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and patient. I never feel rushed to make a decision, and they’re always happy to offer samples so I can try new flavors before committing. One thing I really appreciate is that they carry classic flavors like Rocky Road, which can be surprisingly hard to find these days.

My two young daughters (ages 1 and 3) had a great time, too. There's a cute outdoor area with sidewalk chalk and oversized games like Connect Four, perfect for keeping little ones entertained while you enjoy your treat.
