Visited today for second time.. wanted to give Dixie Grill another try since we love supporting family owned establishments.
We came for breakfast (again - it wouldn't be a fair comparison without ordering breakfast) .... You can order breakfast all day at Dixie Grill ... and I love me some breakfast. 😀 Today was like night and day compared to our last visit. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was great and meal was prepared quickly and as ordered.
Hubby ordered Buckshot's belly buster with Chicken & Sausage w/ all the veggies and added Jalapeños - Delicious!
One daughter ordered the Banana Fosters Waffle and the other ordered Challah at ya Boy French Toast ... they really enjoyed their meals ... only suggestion would be to caramelize the bananas and add sauce (my daughter said that would take this dish from good to a show stopper!)
I ordered the Paul Bunyon ... everything was very tasty .. grits & gravy only needed a little butter, salt & pepper but still yummy. Tea was delicious!
I'm not sure if it was the owner or not but a gentleman was present in dining room and would walk from table to table asking everyone how their visit was going ... this was nice. Felt like he and the wait staff really wanted to ensure everyone's meal was going smoothly.
We will definitely come again.
*Prior Review from First Visit 11/2022 - 1 Star * Came for breakfast. Ordered unsweet tea, eggs over medium, grits, one biscuit with gravy and sliced tomatoes.
We waited more than 30 minutes for our food. When the waitress brought my food she said they didn't make the gravy yet ... if i still wanted it would take another 10 minutes. I told her of course I wanted it so she went back to the kitchen. The tea was on point and eggs were on point. The grits were not seasoned and runny and the tomatoes were not ripe (hard and flavorless) After 15 minutes more she returned to say they still hadn't made the gravy but she's be happy to take the gravy off the bill. I told her I was a bit confused because it normally doesn't take this long to make gravy she said "Yeah, and I only like to work M-F." I supposed I looked shocked because she said. The owner Robbie isn't here and I don't know what's going on in that kitchen. Things are off today. "
Needless to say... not happy with...
Read moreMy wife and I USED to like going here for a nice meal. However, this last year the service (NOT the food) has gone DOWNhill.
This last time our server Kristie was lousy. I noticed her BECAUSE she was sitting at a table talking to a man. Hey, I get that 9am things slow down since the early morning breakfast crowd has left. However, she kept going back to this table and sitting down to visit instead of working. Maybe if she was a decent server and got her orders RIGHT then I could look past her sitting down but we were ignored after she served us our food. First she gets the order WRONG. How I had wanted my eggs cooked was not how I got them. Then I did not get my milk that I had ordered. I waited and waited to see If Kristie would come back to check on us. My wife asked me if we needed to get someone, so I could get the milk I had ordered. I told her, no I am just watching our server sitting & visiting with the same guy. She turned around and she was like “Oh”. So, I said I am going to go to the bathroom if she happens over here let her know that we need refills & my milk. So, I come back after 7+ minutes and she said you know she has not left that table AND she is still is talking. So, when she FINALLY got up I waved at her and she had turned around. By this time my wife was annoyed, got up and said “Hello, could my husband get his milk he ordered.” She sat down and muttered maybe if she was sitting on her butt visiting she could actually take care of her tables. Any ways, by then my wife decided to just get the rest of her meal to go and forget getting a refill. So, we get the bill and it is WRONG somehow we got charged for drinks we did not order. So, we had to get her back to fix it. Then another older server comes by & apologizes saying that Kristie was off for a week and getting back in the groove of things.
After she left, my wife said, “So basically her horrible service has NOTHING to do with her sitting on her butt visiting with that guy but with her being out of work a week”. So, if someone is off a week here we should expect lousy service, wrong orders and being...

I have to raise my rating and revise my review.
Even though they had to change things around DUE to the Pandemic of Covid-19 AND due to the Staffing Crises happening around the United States, they are STILL working and doing their best to give good service and serve good food.
Will they ALWAYS be able to do so. No they can not. My husband is having the same issues at his work place. Working open to close due to people with jobs there calling out all of the time and hardly anyone applying for jobs.
Dixie Grill took initiative, they put NOTICES up all over for those lacking awareness. They shut down the front half of the restaurant and cash register. Their people are doing multiple jobs in the back and the front. taking orders, Serving food and beverages, bussing tables, cashier, cook, dishwasher, taking in new inventory, ect.
Many other restaurants are having the same issues. Some are having to close down, some are reducing their hours, some are consolidating their employees to one location and shutting down another, some are now closing say on Mondays so the staff they do have can get a day off.
It is sad but not surprising to me that on our several recent trips to eat out that there has been at least 1 or more people berating the server or complaining about the obvious. Like those servers are not aware of the obvious.
So thank you for busting your butts and working so that at least the restaurant remains open. I am sorry you have had to deal with people angry over the situation and taking it out on you all.

Service was better but the food not as much. My husband had bacon that was so hard that as he chewed you could hear it. He said it was hard like bacon bits. I had...
