This place was an absolute delight! I haven’t had chipotle-style food in ages because of the quality issues. So, I decided to give Tortilla Shack a try, and boy, was I impressed. I ordered a burrito to eat in and a salad for Togo. The tortilla press was super cool, so if you get a chance while ordering, take a look at that process. The menu has something for everyone, so you’re sure to find something you love. I wish they had grilled fish options, though. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything they served. The onion habanero salsa was my absolute favorite. Usually habanero is too spicy for me, but this salsa was just right. The staff was able to explain each salsa behind the counter, which was great because I didn’t end up with too much heat. Tortilla Shack is in a great location, and I’m definitely going to grab lunch there again soon.

Nice spin off to the chipotle details but for me it wasn’t that much different. The taste is about the same. Had chips and guacamole and tried the a burrito. It’s cool they make tortillas as you or and the burrito can definitely be shared. As far as taste - the guacamole didn’t have as much flavor and the salsas were ok. The pastor had good taste but wished they diced up the meats a bit more smaller. The space is about the same chipotle- clean and plenty of room. Friendly staff.

Really excited about this place! Its’s an awesome option in a central location. Freshly made tortillas are delicious and I loved all the options. Definitely similar to Chipotle in a lot of ways like how it’s not an authentic taqueria — but in my mind this in a different category. I wish the meat was a little more flavorful but all very clean and quality ingredients!

5 stars all around! Tortilla shack is now my go to spot for burritos in the santa cruz area! Everything was so fresh, delicious, all the sauces, the unique and tasty toppings and the sirloin steak was so tender, flavorful & amazing! The cheesysteak chipotle burrito on their specials is not to miss, definitely try that! They make the Tortilla fresh, all different flavors like original white flour, red made with chipotle peppers or a green Tortilla that is garlic & spinach based, then they cook it right on the flat top! I love that they have so many different options, even someone who is vegetarian would be satisfied!

They have burritos, bowls, salads, nachos & tacos to choose as your starting point.

Lots of fresh ingredients at the toppings bar, the variety of different salsas to choose from was great also! I love that their spicy salsas are actually spicy!

The staff was super friendly and very helpful. They were fast with the line too with about 6 people ahead of me. Each person at a station really helped with the flow. They all had a smile on their face and willing to answer any questions. The owner is lucky to have these 3 individuals working at the front & cooks in the back pumping out consistent food! I'm so excited to have this place in santa cruz! I highly recommend...

This place has a lot of potential. I went twice in one week because I really liked it. Their setup is like Chipotle however the flavors and selections are more refined. The main selling point for me are the fresh tortillas that you see them press and make in front of you. In addition to the amazing tortillas, they also have a pretty big selection of sauces, salsas, toppings, and cremas. I highly recommend their Aji Verde sauce, it’s incredibly delicious. The first time I went, I built my own chicken bowl. The second time I went I got the #2 Burrito which is their Baja Fish burrito and I think that is now my favorite. For anyone that likes Chipotle, this place is better, worth the price (compared to Chipotle’s inflated pricing) and you won’t feel extremely bloated from all the salt like when you eat...
