I was really shocked and disappointed. We were so looking forward to some good Mediterranean food. Staff was very nice and the service good. The food however... start with appetizers; we ordered dolmas, they were so salty that there was no discernible other flavors. I am not at all picky so for me to send a dish back is extremely rare. Entrees; my wife ordered the char broiled bleu cheese chicken. She loves bleu cheese but it was so overpowering that nothing else could be tasted. The rice pilaf had peas in it. Aren't peas supposed to be green? These peas were gray and again too much salt. I ordered lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly and tasted good but nothing really stood out about them, no sauce or something to go with them. I unfortunately had the same rice pilaf. The veggies were good though cooked slightly more than I like but weren't over cooked or over salted. The dining area was very worn especially the area up front around the bar. Pieces of spackling around the corners had come off in rather large chunks and the area underneath the bar along the wall was so dirty that we joked that it was something out of kitchen nightmares. Then I started putting puzzle pieces together and grew slightly concerned... over salted food (are they trying to hide some not so fresh items behind the salt?), (was the bleu cheese beyond the bleu and moving towards black?) No illnesses to report but I won't be taking my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreno no no... seriously?!
first of all, this place is NOT GREEK, its greek lite at best, which is fine, just dont present yourself as an authentic greek experience... more like a Chevys for mexican food
i went with a big group on last sunday, about 9 of us, a little cramped for large parties but thats not a complaint, thats not their fault there was a lot of us, service was definitely friendly but not prompt and accurate at all, servers repeatedly forget condiments and extra items we requested, we had to ask three times for a side a taziki sauce for the dolmas, my girlfriend and i orders some of those as an appatezier and they definitely did not taste like greek dolmas, and i can honestly say i know dolmas, for the entree i had a tri tip sandwhich(which was more kabobish actually) and it came with FRENCH FRIES?! AT A GREEK RESTAURANT?!?!?! wtf?! wow thats a first, but my girlfriend had a greek salad with prawns, the only saving grace for this place was that the food was actually good... even though it wasnt greek, a couple of the other people in our group got salds and gyros, and those looked ok as well,
maybe it was just an off night, but overall i think unacceptable none the less, if you want a decent lunch at more than a decent price than this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently took friends out to lunch at Demitri's Taverna in downtown Livermorebased on its high rating. Arriving when it opened, we were the only guests. "Terry" (a 5 year veteran, female) greeted us with a couple of funny comments. I then knew we were in for a good time and meal! We were not disappointed. The menu was extensive. She knew it by heart, and joyfully fielded questions. I noticed she didn't write down our order. However, she recited precisely what all 4 of us had ordered. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. One of our party dropped a fork. Much to my surprise, Terry approached our table from a distance and said, "That sounded like a fork"! She described Demitri himself as the perfect restaurant owner: There all the time, highly skilled and practiced in all tasks from bussing tables to cooking to running the bar. I was fortunate to meet him briefly. He wasn't surprised to hear of Terry's extraordinary gifts waiting on tables. I shared that his restaurant was rated #4 out of 144 in greater Livermore. He brushed aside this remarkable achievement by saying all he cared about was to provide his customers with a memorable dining experience. May Demitri and Terry's joyfully successful restaurant always delight its fortunate patrons in...
