Akasaka Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Livingston

I've been desperately searching for real sushi in the area and unfortunately, this isn't it. The restaurant itself is very clean, with the ambiance more of a sports bar than a Japanese restaurant, If you are just into maki rolls, this place is fine. But if you are looking for authentic sushi/sashimi, the fish selection and quality is very underwhelming. The size of the sushi pieces are in fact too large (too much rice, overly thick fish) and devoid of flavor. Their service while nice, is clearly still new at this, and messed up my order, and didn't understand what was wrong even after I pointed the differences out on the menu compared to what I received. From the moment we walked in, everything about this place was exceptional. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a modern yet cozy vibe. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving.

Now the sushi—wow. Every piece was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The tuna melted in my mouth, and the specialty rolls were creative without being overdone. You can really tell the chef takes pride in every detail.

We also tried the miso soup and seaweed salad to start—both perfect. And don’t even get me started on the matcha cheesecake for dessert. Absolutely divine.

If you’re looking for top-notch sushi with excellent service and atmosphere, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be coming back again...
