I’ve been a long time customer of lefties cheesesteak at the original location on 6 mile and metal belt. In my opinion, their cheesesteaks are top-notch. Up until today I have never had a complaint. In fact, I often tell people about how good they are and recommend them. Now I’ve only had the cheesesteaks, the chickens, cheesesteaks, corn, beef, egg rolls, and corn beef sandwich, which is all top-notch. The employees are the only reason that this review did not get a one star. I’ve never had any other hamburgers, but the reviews and employees were all positive so curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a cheeseburger yesterday. You’ll see from the photos why I didn’t eat it. Customer service across all industries are at our all-time low. So I’m not sure why owners and management don’t try to make a better effort to ensure repeat business. I asked for my burger to have grilled onions, I ordered at the store and waited for my order now when I opened up the box as you can tell from the pictures, the cheese wasn’t melted and when I lifted the cheese from the burger burnt grilled onions were hidden underneath. The mayo was squeezed out of one side. I was hesitant about a $9 burger but if your business model is not to get me to but another one, then Lefty’s surely accomplished that mission with flying colors. I lifted up the tomatoes on the bottom and they were shredded lettuce that obviously comes out of a bag and was not very appetizing at all, but what caught my eye was that there were no condiments actually on the burger except on the side from the pictures. I live in Detroit and I did not know the burger was constructed with so little care. So I didn’t eat it. I wanted to show the restaurant exactly what they were handing out and I didn’t wanna appear like I was trying to get a refund or read free food. I do business, seminars and business consulting, and although Lefyt’s is successful businessman, he lacks the finesse to maintain a smidgette of customer loyalty. I return to the store today and I was only offered to remake the burger. I was watching the NFL playoffs so the store was closed. Now I drove to the store, ordered & paid for my food. Drove back home; food wasn’t right and store closed before I made it back. So I drive back to store and was told that the owner doesn’t allow refunds. I didn’t ask for refund but I did want a little consideration for my inconvenience. I’ve spoken with manger many times and he’s a super nice & friendly person, very knowledgeable & respectful. My problem wasn’t with him, it was with the owner. Making a burger over that was ordered & paid for almost 24 hours ago isn’t even doing the bare minimum of an apology for my inconvenience. They (staff) can’t even give an extra sandwich or drink.
Message to the owner, you can’t impose your will on customers when you haven’t met quality standards and expect them to be happy with remaking a product that was rightfully theirs to begin with. I know you won’t respond to this review because it probably will force you to lie. My question to the owner is 2-part: 1st, from pics, would you eat it and say your expectations were met? 2nd, would you go to a food establishment under these circumstances and say, “They’re doing a great job with customer service?”
This review isn’t all bad, the burger was actually a good burger, not a great burger but it was very good. You do have a great manager in Jonah because if not for him this would be a 1 star review without the possibility of ever returning. You don’t care about your customers inconveniences but I hope you appreciate the great job he’s doing.

I ordered a buffalo chicken hoagie, an order of mozzarella sticks, and the two piece corned beef egg rolls hoping that they would be amazing based on the Livonia menu website pictures (I get it, food photography is a skill for a reason).
When I ordered carryout over the phone, I politely requested that they toast the bun to which the artist replied “yeah, we don’t do that here…” in an annoyed manner.
I get certain places like Jimmy John’s are not equipped to do such a customization like toasting the bun, but you’re telling me they couldn’t throw the open bun face down on the flat top griddle for 60 seconds?
(This would take less time than the tenders frying to temp/deep frying the mozzarella sticks/egg rolls, so the counterpoint of being “too busy with other customers to toast it” is irrelevant).
Aside from that, the tenders were bone dry (sauce-wise) and not crispy whatsoever as if they were microwaved or from the previous day.
The mozzarella sticks were undercooked and rubbery instead of hot (not even warm when they were picked up right on time) with a cheese-pull factor.
Two stars awarded to the corned beef egg rolls for being crispy enough to be passable.
Atmosphere gets 5 stars by default to counteract the lower star ratings for being clean and tidy, since I believe that atmosphere shouldn’t be rated/factored in for places one isn’t sitting down to be waited on.
This was the second bad experience I’ve had at this location (shame on me), and I shan’t...
Read more**Update: Decided to give them another try after the owner posted an apology and that they would be taking care of the quality and quantity issues. Disappointed to say that I got the same results as before. I even let the manager know before I placed my order that last time I was there there was barely any meat on the sandwich and he said they upped their portions. Which turned out not to be true. I definitely will not be going back there again. They are ripping people off charging $18 for a sandwich that has barely any meat on it. Meanwhile, the owner drives a Ferrari. Go figure.
This place is definitely not what it used to be. My last couple visits were less than satisfactory to say the least. The sandwiches are very skimpy now. It’s like they use half the meat or less than they used to use. Bun was cold. Wasn’t as tasty as usual. $18 for a sub is not cheap and the price should reflect in the quality and the quantity and it definitely didn’t. The steak and cheese that I always order used to be overflowing with meat. Not anymore. I would suggest they fix all this before they go out of business. I know other people that go there and they’ve said the same thing. Word is spreading real fast and I would suggest they do something about it if they want to regain their loyal customers and not go out of business. I’ve been going here for 15 plus years since the original owner Paul owned it. Never had a bad...
