RUDE and purposely uncomfortable atmosphere for those they don't want there (i.e. families) with good but overpriced food. When you ask to be seated and the first thing out of the owner/manager's mouth is a list of "don'ts" for your child you know it's going to be... different?
I went with my wife and 5 year old. When we asked to be seated the manager looks at us and states very sternly that they don't have booster or height chairs. My son is almost 6 and hasn't needed either in quite some time so I have no clue why he felt the need to tell us this at the time. He goes on to tell us they don't have a kids menu, my son should not be running around and should remain seated. At first I thought he was kind of joking with my son until he waited there, staring at us for acknowledgement that we would abide by his rules.
After waiting quite some time for a server to grace us with his presence we ordered our $6 salsa/chips and $10 guac to keep our child occupied enough so he wouldn't upset the poor owner. The service felt purposely slow to make sure we didn't enjoy our experience and wouldn't come back with our pesky kid. Our son actually behaved really well during our extended stay at this restaurant. At one point he turned around and touched the decorative chain hanging from the ceiling. Luckily I had already began to tell him not to touch it but he did slightly move it by the time he was able to stop. The manager saw this and began walking (seemingly angry faced) towards my son to reprimand him. My son had already turned back around so the manager aborted his mission of coming to play 'tough guy' to a 5 year old. I'm typically a very understanding person when it comes to restaurants as I worked in the service industry for years throughout my youth and in college. This place gets it wrong!
Even more odd was how afraid the workers seemed to be of this manager. He went behind the bar to make a drink while the hostess manned the greeting stand by herself. Couples were walking in to be seated and she wasn't able to seat them herself. She had to go to the bar where the manager was, ask him where they should be seated but since he was "busy" he made her wait at the bar for over 10 minutes while this couple waited back at the stand, looking around and confused since there were many open tables. Additionally this authoritarian manager would walk around and ask his subordinates (servers) about their tables very secretively and they would look at the table and they would report back their updates to him.
I get it... You're NOT a family friendly place but I would AVOID this place at all costs regardless of who you're going with. It' unfortunate because the food is good but not priced appropriately for comparable places in the area. We won't be back. It was a weird dining experience and the manager runs the place in a very bizarre and...
Read moreIts not easy finding a high end Mexican restaurant. I have a friend that loves Mexican food and was looking for something extraordinary for her birthday dinner. Found this place after a search on Google Maps
The food and drinks were all delicious!!! I like a good smoky Mezcal and the Mezcalita was surprisingly good without being too sweet. If you're into sweeter drinks the pomegranate margarita was tasty as well. The chips and salsa were what I expected after reading the reviews. They have a roasted pepper flavor with a slight kick. I had the Ribeye Huitlacoche for entrée which is one of the most flavorful steaks I've ever had!!! It was slightly undercooked (I ordered it medium and it came out medium rare) but I like a good medium rare steak. So it wasn't a huge deal to me, especially considering how delicious the spices and flavors were.
The service was top notch. Our waiter was very professional and gave us just the right amount of attention. I also was very aware of how clean the place is. As soon as one party left, someone was immediately there to clean and disinfect the area for the next party. The restrooms were clean. I could see the owner wiping down door handles, etc. which gave me a great feeling. You can tell that he really takes pride in his establishment.
I read reviews about this place before I came and of course there are some both positive and negative. While the owner does have a somewhat serious and intense demeanor, he was nothing but pleasant to me and my party. I even saw at one point another group left and must have left something behind on the table. The owner saw it and ran out the door after them to return their property.
I would definitely come back again for a date night or with a...
Read moreHave wanted to check this place out for quite some time now. Most Mexican restaurants are very family friendly and since we had never been or heard anything about the place before going, we brought along our two young kids. Guess I should’ve read reviews from the other people with children (whoops). The owner (or manager? I’m unsure) made sure to snatch the flowers in a vase off of our table and tell us to not allow our daughter “to play with the chain decor hanging from the ceiling” before we had even taken our seats. Totally rubbed me the wrong way. I get some places are not kid friendly but this being a newer place, we honestly had no idea what to expect. I will say the food was authentic and good and our margaritas were tasty. Service was okay. Its a little on the pricier side which is whatever. Would’ve possibly come back just my husband and I for a date night because the place does have a cool atmosphere but this guys actions were just really off putting- especially after we paid a good amount for just us 2 and the little ones literally didn’t end up making a peep the entire time. Also, there were only 2 other tables in the whole place so don’t get why you would want to make any paying customers feel out of place or on edge which is exactly how he made us feel. Don’t think we’ll be back but if you check it out, make sure to leave the...
