My husband and I have been here a few times for breakfast. Standard hash browns and eggs at reasonable prices. Our visit today was different though. One of the older line cooks was completely bawling out a waitress over a ticket. It was in full earshot of all the nearby customers and there was no attempt to keep it a quiet, private discussion. As he is yelling at her, he condescendingly calls her "honey" in a seething tone just to be a bigger A-hole. I continue to watch as he begrudgingly corrected the order and then slams the plate down for the waitress. We later learned this was the head line cook and his immature, verbally abusive reaction was because the waitress wrote something about the lettuce and tomatoes down wrong. Really? You completely make an A-hole of yourself and publicly humiliate your coworker over a small error? Wow...grow up already, dude. I mentioned it to our waitress and she said that this treatment is a regular thing here and usually it is worse. When we cash out, a lady ringing up the bills asked how I was doing. I said fine and asked if she was the manager. She said no, that she was the owner's wife. I asked if I could give her some feedback about our experience. As I started to tell her about the episode and how awkward it makes the customer feel during the dining experience when she completely interrupts and begin to lecture me on how I don't understand how things work around there. Again, WOW... Now I know where the initial jack hole gets it from. As a customer, I don't have to stand to watch a human being being verbally abused and humiliated, particularly if it seems habitual for this business. It is too bad that the owner's wife chose to cut me off and not have an adult conversation about it. You see, ironically, I DO have the last word in the end. I can choose NOT to frequent your business and NOT give you my money. I can also choose to tell my experience to EVERYONE I know who also won't stand for a business to treat its employees poorly. I can also share my experience on social media. There are plenty of other coney islands in the area. You are nothing that special. The waitresses are wonderful but the head line cook and the ownership clearly can use a lesson in how to treat people, communication, and the strength of a simple apology in an...
Read moreThis place is the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. I got water with ice and there was gross orange stuff in my water, got a new cup and ice and there were white and black floaties in my water. After that I just asked for a caned pop.
Next!! We went in and asked about Coney specials, the waitress said they were 99¢ so after confirming it a few times one person got 12 coneys to go to give to his family. I then got 5 to go for my family when we got done. We get our bills and his bill was 70$ and mine was 56$. In pure confusion we asked how are bill was that high and she acted so dumb saying she didn't tell us they were 99¢ that the combos were 99¢. When I asked to talk to the manager she got scared and said she would pay for it herself and I said no because I know waitresses don't make a lot. I ended up paying for both bills which totaled over 123$. When leaving I brought it up to the manager guy and he was wondering where we got the 99¢ from and I told him how the waitress said that it was a special for Coney Day. The manager was no help and seemed just as ignorant as the waitress. I asked him about it and he said it was the right pice that we paid and I stressed to him that we wouldn't have gotten any to go if we knew the actual price. He said sorry and that's all. He didn't offer to help or talk to the waitress or do anything with the fact that we spent so much on literal hot dogs because we were told multiple times that they were only 99¢.
This was my first and last time ever going here not just because we were tricked out of paying over 100$ but because the cups were so gross and clearly unwashed.
I strongly urge people to not eat here and spend your money somewhere that is clean and honorable. I can't believe we paid that much at a coney island.. I literally feel so sick about it. The manager was no help and literally couldn't care less that they stole money from me because the waitress didn't know what she was talking about. I hope the staff sees this and I hope people stop going to your gross restaurant. Also will be reporting to the BBB because telling us one price and charging another is fraud.
Staff get a -10. Manager gets a -10. And...
