El Burrito Loco — Restaurant in Lockport

My OLD review from 3+ years ago:

Best Mexican Food in the Lockport area! The steak and cheese burrito's are amazing! Salsa is good, and the free salsa and chips gives a nice "sit down" restaurant feel, in a fast food environment. Food is delivered fast, fresh, and hot! The prices are good, and the burrito's are a good value for your money! I sometimes stop in on my way to work, to grab a burrito to go (for my lunch) and they always have my order ready to go in under 2 minutes! Great service, and incredible food! Definitely one of my favorites! Definitely the BEST Authentic Mexican food in Lockport!

+3 year later edit: It seems that the cook has changed and now the meat is ALWAYS “burnt” or “old dry burnt meat” tasting and the steak burrito has a terrible “burnt meat” taste and is inedible. The past two years this place is terrible! The past 20-30 times that we have ordered from here, the steak and cheese burrito is terrible and the meat is always “dry” and “burnt” and “over cooked” tasting and the meat quality and taste is extremely bad now! Also it seems that prices went up (1 single torta de asada $8.45) and burritos have gone up as well and less meat and bad tasting meat (very poor quality meat/steak and the steak and meat always tastes burnt and overcooked and has a bad taste to it) and the steak burritos always taste like the meat is old and burnt or like it was meat from lunchtime that someone kept on the grill all day long and then served it at dinner time (old and dry and burnt). Dinner is always terrible here and whoever works at dinner the burritos are always burnt and the meat is always terrible. This place used to be good (3 years ago) but the steak and cheese burritos are terrible now!

For good Mexican food go to “Chenchos Burrito” on Bell Road in Homer Glen! The food quality and meat quality is MUCH higher quality meat and the food portions are larger and the prices and food is much better at “Chenchos Burrito”.

From out of town, hoping to find a decent Mexican restaurant for when we are passing through. Unfortunately, it was not here. My biggest pet peeve, not a great first impression with the young sounding girl that answered the phone when I called to ask questions. No enthusiasm, no suggestive selling, no good bye, just hung up when I said thank you. Very rude! Attitude should have been a red flag. Ordered the Nachos BOGO on Uber Eats. Arrived quickly. Nachos were large portions, but they did not send sour cream which we had to pay $1.50 extra for, and there was no beans that was supposed to be included. Tried calling right away, but rang forever, then a recording. Uber Eats refunded for the sour cream. The mozzarella cheese didn’t even melt. That tells me it’s cheap, very processed cheese. Yuck! The other cheese was processed yellow cheese from a can it tasted like. Meat was not seasoned & very greasy. Not authentic Mexican food. And why charge extra for guacamole & sour cream on a loaded nacho plate? Should be included. Sorry, but do not recommend, at least not...

We've tried this place twice but both times were less then happy with the food and service. The first time we visited them the food was just OK, nothing that great and for the price we thought it would be better. A few months later we were in Bolingbrook and just so happen to drive by the Burrito Loco out there and gave it another shot, the food was much better. So good we figured we'd give the one in Lockport another try. We used their online ordering system and when we pick it up they had no record of the order. I had to pull my phone out and show them we did indeed order from their store bc they did not believe us and then we waited for another 20+ minutes for our food that again like our first visit was just OK. Probably won't be heading here again, too many other better options in the area for good...
