Overpriced, and terrible food! 10+ years ago, this was the place to go for Chinese food, but after the "brother" took over, this place has completely fallen apart, the food quality and meat quality is terrible (dark meat, no white meat, and low-quality food) and the prices are insanely high! The prices are too high, and the food-quality is terrible. Skip this place, and try out "Orient Cafe" in Homer Glen (on Bell Road). The food is MUCH MUCH better, the quality of the food and quality of the meat is much better at "Orient Cafe" in Homer Glen. The food portions are small here, and a bit small at "Orient Cafe", but the prices are very high at Pogoda House, and the food quality is terrible. I asked for egg rolls, and they told me that they only have "shrimp" (no chicken, beef, or pork egg rolls) and I don't eat any sea food (nor does my girlfriend), so unfortunately we hated the egg rolls, and wish they had some egg rolls that were chicken, pork, or beef egg rolls (NOT seafood). The Pagoda House used to be known for great egg rolls (decades ago) and the food was great (decades ago) but the recipes (and ownership) have all changed, and this place is an "over priced DUMP" with terrible food, and extremely high prices (for terrible food). For good chinese food (at decent prices) try "China Wok" in Lemont, or try the "Orient Cafe" in Homer Glen! The lunch specials are good at both "China Wok" in Lemont, or "Orient Cafe" in Homer Glen, and the food portions are the largest at "China Wok" in Lemont! "Orient Cafe" doesn't give much meat, and they are very stingy with their meat, and if you order "no vegetables" then you won't get much of anything, and the prices are a bit higher at Orient Cafe, but not nearly as crazy insanely high as "Pagoda House" in Lockport. If you order "no vegetables" you won't get much of anything, and they will charge you crazy prices for "extra meat" and you find yourself paying $18-$22 for a dinner with about 50 cents worth of chicken! They are very stingy with their meat, and charge crazy prices. It's worth the drive to Lemont or Homer Glen if you are looking for good Chinese food. The "Pagoda House" used to be great Chinese food (at great prices) but those days are gone, and that was decades ago! Now it's poor-quality food, and crazy insane prices, and very small food portions, terrible meat, low-quality food, and just crazy prices. Not a place to go! Also the dumplings and pot stickers are terrible. I used to enjoy them, and enjoyed great meat dumplings, but the last time I went, it was only seafood, or shrimp egg rolls, and the dumplings were bad. Hopefully this place can be "turned around" and saved, I wish they would go back to the old owners, and old recipes (and use the "high quality" ingredients, and "good quality meats" and lower the prices) to help improve customer service and customer satisfaction. If not, this place will close down... (permanently...) I hope they can turn themselves around, and begin offering better food at better prices, and make a $6.95 lunch special, with free egg roll, and free soup, with a large portion of fresh high-quality meat, and rice, and enough to fill you up and stuff you for $6.95 lunch special! But unfortunately those days are gone, and you're forced to go to "Orient Cafe" for a good lunch special, or good quality food. I hope this place changes, and improves their food and lowers their prices. It's just not the...
Read moreThis place is HORRIBLE. Placed an order for delivery just last night. Order took about 45 minutes even though we live literally just 2 minutes away. Food arrives, we pay and start to eat. We ordered a sweet & sour chicken...big mistake. The chicken was DISGUSTING. Never have I seen chicken from a Chinese restaurant look like this. It was overcooked, falling apart & dry. We called to ask for a new one & the person who took our call tried to give us a fight. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. He first told us what we got was pork instead of chicken...okay. Finally convinced him to send us a new one. He did & we made the mistake of not checking it before he left...because we received the same crap! Called back again & this time spoke with a woman. I don't even have the words to explain what a nuisance she was. She claimed that's how the chicken always looks, that they "try their best" and that the chicken wasn't spoiled. We all wish we had taken pictures because it was so disgusting that we all refused to eat it. I tried asking for our money back, just on the chicken. She refused, apparently they don't do refunds so if you get nasty, overcooked food...TOO BAD! She claimed we had wasted $20 on chicken, even though we wasted $40 on her horrible food. It was back & forth arguing with her. I said "Are you not a business? And are we not your customer?" It didn't matter, she wanted to fight. She ended up hanging up on us, so we drove there because we were adamant about getting our money back. She was even worse in person. Never have we been treated so rudely over something some simple as CHICKEN. We ended up having to call the police because she said "Well I have your phone number & I have your address"...THREATENING us. All over $6. She was really pathetic. We are sharing this story with everyone we know & hope that if you want some Chinese, that you'll elect to go somewhere else. Overall, the rest of our food order was okay. Egg rolls were overcooked, but we still ate what we did get. We will definitely never ever ever be going back & will make sure everyone we know...
Read moreThe owner was so unbelievably rude tonight. I called to say that they forgot to put my rice in the bag. He said, “Oh, I’ll need to yell at my guy. Do you want to come back for it?” I said “I guess so. I don’t have anything to put my chicken on.” Hung up. I then looked at my pot stickers and called back and said that they looked different than how they usually come. He had me describe…They were deep fried. They typically come pan fried. I said “Can you please just fix that, so when I come back for my rice you have the pot stickers correctly made?” Big sigh. He says Yes, but no sorry. I get there. The OWNER comes out. Before he hands me my rice and my new pan fried pot stickers says, “Well…did you bring back the other pot stickers? (No?!!) He continued, “I would have liked to throw them out here”. Not even caring whatsoever that they forgot my rice AND made my pot stickers wrong, AND that I had to drive back 15 min while my entire dinner is sitting on my kitchen table cold. And then back home again. Apparently, he didn’t want me to have $7 of his food in my own garbage. (I asked him who the owner was and he said, “I am”, because I I was almost positive that that was NOT the owner making this huge scene. But it was!?) Never, never,...
