We made a reservation for my niece’s 21st birthday and because our entire party was not here 20 minutes early, they gave away our table.
I understand the hostess cannot make tables appear out of thin air, but when you accept a reservation for 15 people, I think you’d honor a reservation.
Edit: thank you for your response, I don’t know how to add a reply to your comment so I will add one here.
I appreciate you reaching out now, but some level of acknowledgment of the comedy of errors last night would’ve gone a long way.
I think you are confusing us with the other large party who was not asked to abide by your 90 minute limit as printed on your menus. Which is also likely the reason why we never got our table. We had a 9:15pm reservation. My wife and I were the last two to arrive at 9:14pm. Things did not get better after posting my original review. Having nothing better to do than wait, I took diligent notes in my phone:
We would’ve left had two people in our party not ordered a margarita tube. When other members of our party ordered 4 margaritas, they were charged for 5. The bartender sheepishly shrugged when asked about it. My uncle ultimately told him to just make another one.
As it turned out the hostess lied about not seating parties until the entire group was there. Between 9:15-9:48 when our table was finally assembled for us, three or four people popped in looking to join their already seated group. I know the hostess told us that to buy time hoping your 7:30 group would leave, but lying is not a good look.
After we were seated at 9:48pm we were not acknowledged by anyone until I went back to the hostess at 10:10pm and asked her, “not that I want to keep piling on here, but have we been assigned a server?” She and another employee seemed shocked that we hadn’t been greeted, given water or taken our drink order. I’m not sure whose responsibility that was, but it was dropped.
Our server was the first and only person to acknowledge that things had not been going as they should. She was lovely and I would give her 5-stars. I will gloss over the incorrect dish being brought out or how after ordering our first round of drinks that I went to the bar for my beer because we were still 20 minutes away from getting it. What I won’t gloss over is the ceramic dish that contained the salsa being broken in multiple places. As I’m sure you’re aware, the jagged edges are not safe for the obvious reason, but also it forms a crevice for food borne illness and bacteria to hide in there.
You might be right, a one star review for being seated 30 minutes late and then not being served for an hour and 15 minutes after our reservation might have been harsh. Given the rest of the evening, I’ll...
Read moreIt was decent. Bizza is a $22 glorified quesadilla with consume. The mango chamoy drink... they mustve forgotten the mango part cause it was straight up salt. Super cute atmosphere, though. having a DJ was cool. There was no hostess when we walked in and kinda just stood around for a while not sure if we just sit or wait for someone. I'm not even exaggerating, because Ive waitressed before and I know how it is, but our waitress forgot about us 4 times. She forgot to put our initial cocktail orders in, then she forgot to take a regular drink order, which we at least got water from another wait staff. Our waitress came back and asked if anyone had helped us yet. We were confused cause she just took our drink order but we went ahead and just ordered our food. Then we got the chips and salsa which I loved. So then we get our food - bizza and some al pastor tacos, (which we're very delicious but sorta smaller than your average). I guess I should've known that the bizza would essentially be a quesadilla, hahaha. Well, after we finish, we're confused again cause our waitress is no where to be seen. We're wondering like.. do you pay up front as a kiosk or do they come around eventually? Lol. Then she came around and told us she forgot about us, which at least she's honest. So my husband asks if we would be able to still get our cocktails. She said something to the extent of it never being put in and she didn't even remember taking our order, and she apologized. No biggie! Drinks came, mine was just saltwater and tequila. but I drank it all cause I'm not wasting my money lol. Then she forgot about us again when we asked for the check and then again for the boxes... Like dang. I'm sorry. Oh yeah... and marg tower is like around $90. 🥴 Cute place, decent food, disorganized service. I'd eat here for take out maybe down the line after some...
Read moreVery Disappointing Experience at Oasis Mexican Kitchen & Bar
I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience at Oasis Mexican Kitchen & Bar, which was nothing short of disappointing.
First off, the Carne a la Tampiqueña was absolutely inedible. It was so tough and dry, it felt like chewing on leather. I couldn’t even finish it, which is saying something because I’m usually a big fan of steak.
The house Margaritas were equally terrible. We tried to give them a chance, but after three attempts to send them back, we gave up. They were watered down and lacked any flavor, not at all what we were expecting from a place that markets itself as a Mexican kitchen and bar.
Speaking of the bar, there wasn’t a single bottle of mid-tier or top-shelf tequila on the menu, which is honestly hard to believe for a Mexican restaurant. It felt like they were cutting corners on everything, even the basics.
We also had an issue with the service. The manager never came out to apologize for any of the issues, despite the food being cold, the drinks being undrinkable, and the overall lack of attention. Speaking of attention, we had to repeatedly ask for water, which should be a given in any restaurant, especially one with a "bar" in its name.
To top it all off, the silverware had spots all over it, which just made the whole experience feel more unclean and unappetizing. The food also took forever to arrive, and when it did, it was cold, which only added to our frustration.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing dining experience, and I won’t be coming back. I expected much better from a restaurant that touts itself as a place to enjoy Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Save yourself the trouble and...
