It’s been a while since I’ve tried to find a quality Mexican restaurant but unfortunately my search still continues. I used to go to a local place in Romeoville (El Barrio Mexican Restaurant) which went down in quality once the owner retired and sold the business. I read the reviews and decided to give Taco Patio a try but I was left highly disappointed.
I ordered a Steak Burrito Dinner and a Churro. First, let me say the Churro was tasty and I would order that again if I were to visit Taco Patio in the future. However, with that said, I was a bit surprised to see the cheese was on the outside rather than inside the burrito. I guess that’s not a big deal as flavor wise I tasted the cheese perfectly fine. The issue at hand comes from how dry and poor tasting the steak was. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it had a strange texture and didn’t taste much like steak at all. I ate half the burrito and couldn’t take it anymore so I threw the rest away. The rice and beans were better than the steak burrito but even those weren’t great.
I’ll give credit where it’s due though. The young man that took my order was very professional and polite. I was handed my food by someone else, who may have been the manager, and was greeted with a thank you and have a great day. Staff wise you have a very inviting crew and I appreciated that. I just can’t understand how the steak is so dry...
Read moreTaco Patio is one of those restaurants that is unique because it's independently owned, is convenient, unique, and serves terrific Mexican food.
The fact that Taco Patio is independently owned gives it an advantage on so many levels because A. they can make their own hours and B. their food is unique and distinct to them, and C. It is a restaurant where you order food, they call you when it's ready, and the drinks are self serve. In other words, it is not the type of restaurant where you are waited on by a server.
It is convenient because for one thing, they are the only restaurant that is open past 11 o'clock apart from Denny's or IHOP which is a bit of a hike if you're looking to eat somewhere late, and you live in, or want to hang out with someone in the Lockport area.
Their food is unique in that they have their own distinct flavor and quality meats. I particularly go for their steak burrito, as it is very tasty, filling, and something that I look forward to getting just about every time I go there. I also noticed in eating there that many people from Lockport pickup food there from home, or go to the drive thru window to take their food home. If you're in the Lockport area and you have a taste for Mexican, try Taco Patio. If you like some of the qualities I wrote about, you'll...
