The 3 stars is because i feel bad for the business. The food is just OK. The 2 young females that work the front are not. They took the order wrong. I wanted 3 burritos. They charged me for 1 burrito and 3 tacos. After explaining what I wanted again they couldn't figure out what to charge me. Each burrito is 12 for a total of 36. They already charged me 12 for 1 burrito and 12 for 3 tacos for a total of 24. I explained I needed to pay another 12 for the 3rd burrito. They chgd me another 12 for the 3rd burrito and I thought all was good until they only brought out 2 burritos. They could not understand that I originally paid 24 then another 12. They just argued with me about the order. A lot of back and forth until someone from the back came out and quickly understood the issue but the young ladies wouldn't let up. One of the young ladies also kept trying to give me 40$cash back from her pocket and told me to keep the food. It was all very dramatic. I just told them to take the food back and give me a refund because for some reason I just couldn't get my 3rd burrito from them. A second cook then came out also understanding and quickly went to make me the burrito. It was just all really awkward and I didn't even want my family to eat the food at that point but to end it all took the food and left. A very bizarre experience. Based on the good reviews I had high hopes thinking how great it would be having an authentic spot close to me. Needless to say I won't...
Read moreI was looking to pick up some Mexican food for lunch at a place where burritos did not cost $17+. That's when my search landed me on Taqueria D&K. I called to order for pick up on a Saturday at around 12:30 and was quoted a 20 minute wait time. I ordered two California burritos - one with al pastor, one campechano, and and order of quesabirria tacos. I liked that they ask you if you want red or green sauce inside the burritos. You also get to choose if you want pineapples with your al pastor (get them). The al pastor burrito was probably my favorite of the bunch. It is well-filled and well-wrapped. The ingredients are distributed evenly, all the way to the ends of the burrito. So you won't have one bite that's just beans and rice, and another with just meat. It may be the best burrito I've had in a while and for $12?! That is a steal! I didn't like the campechano as much because there was some spice in there that was a little too overpowering (cinnamon?). Quesabirria tacos were also only okay but I don't like the beef in birria tacos in general because it's usually dry and bland, but I love the cheese, griddled tortilla, and consommé part. I wish they could somehow make the al pastor into quesabirria. Or maybe next time, I'll just order a quesadilla and get a side of the consommé.
Will definitely be back to try some tacos and some of their other menu items. I'm hoping this will be me go to Mexican...
Read moreI came in the evening time between 9 - 10 pm and ordered 2 carnitas tacos 1 shrimp taco and an order of shrimp sopes. The food was not as flavorful as I would have hoped. It was disappointing because they had such great reviews too. Unfortunately, the carnitas tascos had a lot of fat chunks in them which were annoying to bite into and then “remove”. It also lacked flavor. The shrimp taco had avocado on it, which was surprising and if I had known I would've requested to take it off because I'm allergic to avocado. Although I could've removed it myself, I didn't chance it and gave it to someone else. The sopes were 3 for $12.50 (?) and didn't come with avocado. I liked that their scopes weren't too thick, and actually on the thinner side from the scopes, I did have (still thick however). It was alright, the same issue of lacking any flavor.
As for the atmosphere, it was chill. I loved the designs over the store showing different photos of people in Mexico (?) enjoying the cuisine. Lots of things along the wall that can catch your eye. There's a display of the drinks behind the register and afterwards you grab your drink yourself.
Finally, the service was decent too. No frills. He was a kind guy, took our order, and answered...
