This was my FIRST experience with West Coast Sourdough. Reviews are RIGHT! I tried ordering online. Failed. Then I tried calling in my order. No one answered the phone. Then I drove to the store, while calling. I arrived at 7:14pm. Stores closes at 8pm. No customers but me & 2 employees in the store. I place my simple order. Soup, sandwhich, drink. The slender young man decides to start emptying all the big trash bins on wheels instead of starting sandwhich (Yep - I worked food service back in the day, too. He was starting Closing procedures 45 mins early so they could leave early. I get it). However, message to customer- Emptying trash is more important than your order. The girl then started moving big bags of sourdough bread around. Mine was on Gluten-Free. That bread is pre-made and individually wrapped. After moving bags of sourdough and tidying up in the back for a bit, she came back out and started my sandwhuch. She was new so she took her time and read the cranberry turkey recipe, which I understand. STICKER SHOCK when the tiny cup of stock, chicken noodle soup was...$8.95??? I bought it. Not as good as the $3.95, stock, Subway Chicken noodle. My order was done at 7:30pm So about 15 minutes to make ONE sandwhich so I agree with other reviewers...VERY slow service...Can't imagine "rush time" at lunch. I still would have given the store 3 stars as the young girl was trying, HOWEVER, as soon as I left the store, the slender white male with floppy brown hair, pulled out his VAPE PEN and PHONE shook his head/hair for awhile over the cash register (not sure what THAT was about but disgusting in a place that serves food. THEN he hopped up and SAT on the food counter reading his phone AND VAPING IN the store!!! ICK!!! Clearly the youngsters need more training and supervision. PIC is of young man that was vaping, sitting on counter, shaking hair and constantly...
Read moreIf I could put a negative 10 stars I would This was the first time at this sandwich shop You place your order where you pay The menu wasn’t clearly visible from here and it is also right by the door, so there was a cluster of people there The drinks are also right there, so no way to social distance The first thing the person asked was house spread; but it sounded like she said house bread It was difficult to understand her Again the process wasn’t clear from the limited menu I could see It was set up the opposite of every other sandwich place where you go the the other end and progress towards the cashier We finally placed our order. We waited 20 minutes and asked about our order It was sitting on the back counter They never called our number We never saw any of the tables being cleaned as people left, and there were plenty of staff to be able to do this When we finally got our food, we asked about buying bread, which was not on the menu. The staff person mumbled something really fast that was not understandable. I told her I had no idea what she said. We were told we could get uncooked bread for $3.99 and cooked bread but they were not sure how much that was. My sandwich was missing the cheese I requested The bread was just ok; Boudin’s is thicker and tastier. From a customer perspective the whole experience was awful. It is more expensive than other sandwich shops and definitely not worth it. I regret leaving a tip And I won’t return But I’m happy to tell everyone I know...
Read moreUpdate: Had a friend try this place and said it was good so I thought I would give it another shot. First observation, employees are not friendly, no smiles or hellos just straight and to the point of making the sandwiches. After about 5 minutes with nobody in front of me they finally acknowledged me and took my order. My sandwich was great and the service much better than last time but please people your dealing with the public at least smile and welcome in your customers.
Just left this place, Love the sandwiches however today there was a young girl behind the food prep area with her mask off eating a sandwich over the food prep counter and over the food that is being used to make the sandwiches. She was trying to hide below the stainless steel lids that are propped open when she seen that I was giving her the stink eye. She then moved to the counter behind her and resumed eating over another prep surface. She never changed her gloves or bothered to wipe anything down. I Was thinking about talking to a manager however all workers were kids and it didn't look like anybody was in charge. My wife wont eat here because of stuff like this. She says it's not run well and now I see what she means. Such a shame, I enjoy these sandwiches but I won't...
