Taqueria Los Sombreros — Restaurant in Lombard

Taqueria Los Sombreros offer Mexican food which is 100% zabihah halal in Lombard, IL. The restaurant is very nice from outside and so is the inside, clean and well kept. Though I know the owner personally, I am not basing the review on our friendship but as an impartial reviewer. As always, each person's experience is different and there are factors that contribute to it, both internal and external and they are always written as pertaining to the unique experience the reviewer felt at the time of visit.

There was one table of 3 patrons and the restaurant was empty on a Saturday late evening. The only person behind the counter told us to take the one of the one sheet menu from the wall holder and place our orders. She is also the cook, preparing the food. It took a good 10 minutes or more to prepare for the family of 4. There are tacos, fajitas, quesadillas and more on their menu. Mix and match the meat options is available, and I had in one order of 3 quesadillas, marinated chicken, turkey and gyros. I liked the gyros the best though the spiciness (requested by me) was just too hot. It was certainly murder.. 😀. Next time, I will limit it to medium spiciness.

My wife loved her fajitas (a special) which has quite a well spread of items on the platter and our kids, their chicken and bbq beef ones, though our younger one could not finish it, due to eating a few too many chips and salsa. It is a great place to try out Mexican food if you are in the area or long for it. The prices for the specials might be a tad high, perhaps due to the generous portions and the multiple items on the plate as well as halal meats themselves being higher priced in the market. Otherwise it was a very good experience...

This is the first time I ever write a review cause I'm not picky at all but this time the food was horrible. Anyway, I walked into this place on a Thursday a little over 2 pm and ordered chicken tacos: they were out of chicken. So, I ended up ordering 3 tacos with chorizo and an order of rice: the rice was watery and did not have any flavor whatsoever, the tacos were bad as well. Long story short, I told the lady behind the counter about the food and she simply replied: "I will let the boss know" at this point I was just done with this place, I mean, she could have at least offered to refund what I paid for the rice since I only had two bites of it, oh well. On the other hand, the place was clean but a little music might help cause the 20 minutes I was in there the place felt like a funeral home: there was no music and the TVs were off, I understand perhaps they were trying to save anergy but idk the place just felt very uninviting. Sorry, but just spend 80 dollars on steak tacos and burritos. Steak was dry and hard with burnt taste to it. Very disappointed. More lettuce in my burritos than steak. I ordered the steak nachos as appetizers but it never came thankfully was not charged for it.Ordered 5 coke got 3 coke and 2 diet coke because the other coke was not cold . Who said i like diet anything. They had pepsi and other drinks. He should have been hey, coke is not cold would you like something else. I had to ask what else do you have that is when he says pepsi, crush, 7-up. Training on customer service very much needed. This review is for improvement purpose only. Dont want you too lose customers and business ends up closing down. I drive a good distance for good food but this was not what i expected.Muslim owned so will love to see improvement and be a prosperous business.
