Centro - Burgers & Shakes — Restaurant in Lombard

Upon walking in, I was not sure what to expect. I'm glad I came here though! When you walk in, you order from a tablet and pay using your card, then wait while your food is cooked in the back. It is an open kitchen so you can see your food being prepared. You can order to-go, or dine-in. While I appreciated the self-service feature available on the tablet, I also did not see a sign that explained what to do up on walking in...I would have liked a simple "Hello, welcome" from the staff and a gesture to put my menu in the iPad, but everyone appeared focused on other things. This, however, did not greatly affect my personal opinion just yet. I put my order in which was pretty easy and quick. Great prices! As I waited for my food, I noticed how sparse and bare the walls were, as well as the dining and entry area. I think if they invested in some new lighting fixtures and artwork, or even put the menu up on the walls it would definitely make a big difference in the atmosphere. There was a table of young men enjoying their meal in the next room over. Their burgers looked gigantic. As I waited the staff were so extremely friendly and kind. The one man answered my question so patiently and warmly too and asked if I would try out a new smoothie flavor, compliments of the chef. Then, the chef came out himself and so sweetly said he would make a blueberry smoothie right away!! Wow, I was pretty impressed and excited... that turned out to be the best unexpected service ever as I received my hot food freshly packed and secured in a thick paper bag. I ended up LOVING the blueberry smoothie! Tasted simply homemade and delicious. I loved their kind, warm friendliness as I left with my food. My halal hot dog with their specially made Centro sauce which is like a sweet tangy mayo was absolutely delicious as well. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. ... so unexpectedly delicious. This is a hole in the wall gem. Do not go there for the service or atmosphere. Go there for the best burgers in Lombard.

Pros: Arguably one of the best burgers in Lombard. The menu is simple and easy. The price is reasonable. The burgers are loaded with fresh veggies and the Centro sauce has a nice kick to it, similar to Big Mac sauce, but higher quality. The patty is just the right texture and depth. Not too thin and not too thick, easy to chew. The buns are thin and easy to eat. (I dislike big fat burger buns). The fries are also one of the best in Lombard area. They are well seasoned and crispy. I'd highly recommend it.

Cons: There is essentially no customer service. You place orders through the self order touch screens, then the chef makes it in the kitchen. Efficient, but not welcoming. A simple "Hi" from the chef would go a long way. Towards the second half of the burger, you lose out on the toppings and left with just the patty and buns. Not sure if it's supposed to made like pita style, but I'd prefer all the toppings distributed evenly throughout the burger. If I were the owner, I'd give the place a small face lift with new counters, better lighting, new tables and chairs to make it more modern and more inviting for people to sit and eat. The bathroom area looks like you're going to a dark closet. Put more lighting there and update the bathrooms and put locks on them!!!

This is a nice clean place , if you do not want to feel guilty after eating a greasy Cheese Burger then this is the Place , I would have preferred little bit of more flavor and Juice .....I would like to see them Expand the menu and I will go back again

Review # 2 I usually do not write a review unless the place is very good or very bad .......My first review is up there and I gave a good ratings , but I had to edit my response looking at the how the customer service was..........today was my second visit , the order was online and today it took 70 minutes to tell me that It will take another 10 mins which is completely unacceptable by any standards to make 1 Burger .......there were multiple customers ahead of me who cancelled their orders I can say 3 including me and atleast 5 people walked out which is not good ......I am a strong supporter of Halal Businesses , but there are 8 Halal Places down the street who do much better .....I would have given a 0 star if they had an option ....I understand Kid is new but this is no way to run a Business....Today was 9th Muharram and people were out there fasting and it is pathetic that customers who did not eat anything all day are being lied to stick around for food even after over a hour for multiple people ....My first order took 50 minutes few weeks back but consistently spending this much of time is ridiculous .....hopefully when family and friends are done giving ratings the real ratings will come out ....
