We’ve been longtime fans of Native Foods since they first opened in Glendale, and enjoy their Boulder restaurant occasionally, so while shopping down south, we stopped at this location in Lone Tree for dinner to see the latest new NF evolution.
This Lone Tree newest outlet has all the jazzy upgrades with large, lighted menu displays and ordering and is definitely launching into the solid national franchise status with this location entry.
My low rating for this visit was based solely on the food preparation of one item… the Chicken Bacon Avo Club Sandwich (with fries).
For the very first sampling of this sandwich at this new location (have ordered it dozens of times before at their other locations) it was a complete disaster. Terrible.
The total “Fail” for this sandwich was the bacon 🥓 strips. Not only were they poorly prepared, they were completely inedible. My first thought was that they looked like strips of thick, over-cooked shoe leather, but they were worse. They were more like a wooden texture, similar to dark brown thick wooden tongue depressors glued together.
They were not only horrid looking, but almost impossible to even bite through.. For a kitchen chef to even put those brown tasteless wooden chunks in a sandwich and send them out for someone to try and eat was entirely unconscionable. You could easily tell just by looking at them, that even a pet would refuse them as a chew toy. This is not an exaggeration.
An employee was very apologetic about the unfortunate strips they’d served and took them to the back to discuss them with whoever prepared them. He offered to replace them with more bacon strips which I declined. When a kitchen is willing to serve something that terribly wrong, the last thing you want is a second attempt.
I’m guessing that their kitchen employees are new and unskilled at preparing the vegetarian meat products, but whatever the case, I’d encourage people to simply avoid this location until they figure things out.
I could picture a brand new customer thinking… “Hmmmm a meatless Chicken and bacon and avocado sandwich… that should be interesting to taste.” And then, after being served the very unappetizing brown strips of wood in the middle of an otherwise unremarkable sandwich, thinking, “That’s the LAST time I’ll ever try eating a vegetarian sandwich! Those vegetarians people are garbage wood-eating freaks.”
It’s hard estimating how many people may have already written off Native Foods for good if they were served similar wholly inedible “bacon” strips like that. But having enjoyed the many Native Foods sandwiches for years, I can testify that they’re not ALL this awful. This location just needs to train their kitchen staff how to properly cook the products they’re preparing.
Until they get it right, avoid this location. (the other 2/3 of the sandwich were okay… but the bacon is one of the worst things I’ve seen a restaurant serve in a...
Read moreI've been a long time patron of the Boulder and Denver locations, and I was beyond excited to hear Native Foods was opening a location closer to my neck of the woods. However, the Lone Tree restaurant has been a continual disappointment ever since they opened. For one the quality of the ingredients definitely is lacking compared to the other two locations; I've had dried out burger buns, food drowned in sauce, and just overall a less enjoyable experience with this location's food. All that might be forgivable if last night Native Foods Lone Tree hadn't given me some of the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced. I had their BBQ Street Tacos, which has been one of my favorite new additions to their menu. I was fine for about an hour or two after eating and then I started experiencing intense waves of nausea and severe stomach cramping which kept me up all night. Even today as I write this review I'm still feeling sick as a dog and would much rather be at work or doing almost anything else instead if feeling like I'm going to puke my guts out at any moment. Do yourself a big favor and go to the Denver or Boulder location; the same menu items taste way better and they won't ruin your day (or week) once you're...
Read moreWe were in Lone Tree for one night, and as vegans we were really happy to see Native Foods. Like many vegan establishments it’s a counter-service, fast-food-ish type place. Order at the counter, grab a table, get your food. Our cashier was very pleasant and friendly, and was happy to explain the menu. We grabbed a table, and I had a Clorox wipe in my purse I used to wipe the table. It came away black with dirt. Given that the place was empty when we got there, someone could have been wiping down tables (maybe they did?). Overall, the dining room could have been cleaner given there was very little traffic. The sandwiches were quite good, but the fries were inedible. They had a ton of salt and spice on them. When we mentioned it we were told it was hard for them to control the amount coming out and sometimes the fries got over seasoned. So we didn’t eat those. So overall not the greatest. I’d go back for one of their sandwiches if I lived in the area and could get it to you. I know this is a chain, so perhaps other locations would...
