I really enjoy the Lone Tree Library. It's clean, well-organized, and has a genuinely friendly atmosphere. It’s a great place to spend time browsing for books, working, or attending one of their programs.
Their story times are usually calm and quiet, which can be nice for children who thrive in a peaceful environment. However, it’s worth noting that one of the librarians takes a fairly more strict approach when it comes to babies moving around during story time — even for children under 24 months of age. This person makes comments regarding young babies, who wiggle or move out of a parent’s lap. While I understand that disruptions can make reading aloud more challenging or a genuine concern for stepping on them. It can feel discouraging when slight remarks are made about the parents and their very young children acting in age-appropriate ways. I don’t believe there’s any intent to be unkind, but it can easily come across that way. It's just a different approach than other Douglas County libraries storytime, who do not mind and encourage babies crawling around or interacting with each other, as long as they are actively watched by their caregivers.
That said, the library overall is a wonderful resource for the community and a nice place for families. I still highly recommend it. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to attend story time with a baby or toddler who is still learning how to sit through...
Read moreOverall a decent library save for one small fact, the staff are ill trained to deal with or address loud screaming children throughout the facility! I've been coming here for years, and the issue at this point is out of control.
We go to the library for peace and quiet, to unwind in a good story, to let ourselves get drawn into a scene painted by an adept writer.
This is destroyed and cannot happen with loud screaming running kids, from one end of the library to the other. In fact, it is very stressful.
Most parents understand this, but many don't get it or don't care, and in those cases, it is up to the Library Staff, to gently correct the children, or to address it with their parents and let them educate their children in the correct library protocols.
If their children cannot be quieted, simply direct them outside, and let them scream and play all they want, outside..... not inside.
Library's are not Childcare Centers, please, please, please, start educating your staff and address the issues, have them do their jobs for all of the library patrons that pay for it and support...
Read moreI didn't know the library could throw a party, but they exceeded all our expectations! Our child's birthday celebration was a delight.
The library staffs were incredibly accommodating. Their willingness to adapt to our needs truly made the planning process stress-free.
The organizer’s and volunteers’ support throughout the entire event were outstanding, from coordinating activities to ensuring the smooth flow of the event.
The highlight of the party was undoubtedly the wizard who led storytime. His enchanting storytelling skills captivated both children and adults alike.
The decor was beautifully done. From vibrant colors to props, every detail was carefully considered to create an immersive environment.
The craft activities provided endless entertainment for the little ones. The children were engaged and delighted throughout the party. It was wonderful to see the kids’ creativity unleashed in such a supportive and creative setting.
Heartfelt thanks to the library staffs, organizer and volunteers for an unforgettable event!
