This is a nice restaurant in a great location. (Please Note: This review was written and all the photos were taken during the December 2020 California COVID-19 Lockdown. Under normal circumstances, I am sure this place is very busy, full of happy patrons. I visited at 2:00 PM on a Tuesday and I was the only customer.) The pub is situated at the foot of the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier. There is very limited on-street parking. The outside seating affords a commanding view of the sweeping beach and the calm ocean. The interior is nicely decorated with leather booths and historical photographs. The keynote feature is the long, oak bar backed up by the stainless steel brewing tanks which give the shop its name. The single young lady running the front of house when I was there was very nice and easily accomodated my minor menu adjustments. Now, to the food: I started my (To Go) meal with the Charred Brussel Sprouts ($11). They were cut to open the leaves, lightly sauted to a crispy texture, and sprinkled with a Balsamic vinegar reduction. I don't eat pork, so I asked for the bacon to be eliminated, but the grated parmesan cheese was a good topper. For those who don't care for brussels sprouts, I suggest you try them cooked this way. It might change your mind. Next up was the generous House Salad ($6). It consisted of mixed greens, tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers tossed with croutons. The dressing (I chose Ceasar) was served on the side. (You can also order a proper Ceasar Salad for $11). The salad comes with garlic bread. The main event was the signature Belmont Burger ($14). The single, 1/3 pound patty of Angus beef is placed on an onion bun and is dressed with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, pickles, and red onion. The young lady asked how I'd like it cooked and I told her "medium" but the chef pulled it off the grill at "medium rare." Still, it was tasty and I didn't mind the extra juiciness. The accompanying fries were thin and firm, tossed with seasoned salt. Overall, this was a great meal and the portions were far more than I could eat in one sitting. Read moreBelmont Brewing Company is a great place to enjoy a meal and a beer with a view of the Pacific Ocean. The brewery is located in Long Beach, California, and it has a large outdoor patio with plenty of seating. The view from the patio is amazing, and you can see the waves crashing on the shore. The ambiance is relaxed and casual, and it's a great place to spend an afternoon or evening with friends or family.
I ordered the bacon, fig, and goat cheese flatbread, and it was okay. I also ordered a Darkstar Stout, and it was smooth and full-bodied.
The service at Belmont Brewing Company was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made sure that we had everything we needed. We had a great time at Belmont Brewing Company, and we will definitely be back.
Here are some more details about the food and beer that I had:
Bacon, Fig, and Goat Cheese Flatbread: This flatbread was more of a small pizza than a flatbread. The figs were quite small, over roasted and a bit dry. I didn't taste any goat cheese, but there was definitely cheese. The bacon was nice and smokey and cute into small lardons. I wouldn't recommend the flatbread. The flavors of the fig and goat cheese just weren't present.
Darkstar Stout: This stout was dark and full-bodied, with a smooth finish. It had a roasted malt flavor with hints of chocolate and coffee. It was the perfect beer to pair with the bacon, fig, and goat cheese flatbread.
Overall, I had a great experience at Belmont Brewing Company. The food was decent, the beer was excellent, and the service was top-notch. I would definitely recommend this brewery to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy a meal and a beer...
Read moreLets start with location and parking. There was plenty of parking at the beach lot, it's metered but free after 6pm. Very short distance from the restaurant. Location was nice, right on the beach in Belmont, view was amazing. The service. When we arrived we were seated immediately by a very nice young woman. Presented us with a menu and told us who our waiter would be. Within 2 minutes our waiter approached, introduced himself and took our drink order. He came back after about 5 minutes to see if we were ready to order. We started with an appetizer, the Hawiian Style Poke, it was so good we ate it before grabbing a photo. Now, it was good but here's the issue we waited about 25 minutes for get it, we couldn't find our waiter to inquire about the food. But people around us were getting their food before us and they were seated after us. So, once we got it, it was very tasty and fresh. I ordered the Honey Peppercorn Salmon, it sounded amazing. Upon receiving it the presentation was very nice, quite impressive actually. It was a bit over cooked, and I couldn't taste anything like honey, even a slight flavor of it was missing. My wife ordered the Dynamite Shrimp, she really liked it, said it could've used a bit more spice for her but good either way. Now the reason for the 3 star review is the wait time for the appetizer and the meal followed within 10 minutes so we had a table full of food that wasn't brought out in a timely manner and our waiter only checked in with us once after taking our order, so I never got any refills...
