Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Long Beach

This restaurant is in Long Beach. It is not very big and it is tucked away in a little strip mall. But it lacks nothing! The food was awesome. Everything was on point they have such a huge selection. And everything was super hot and super fresh. There is something for everyone the cost of the buffet was very reasonable. The service was above average. The employees are very friendly helpful and everyone there is so happy. Even the customers are happy. It was an amazing experience. They do offer a takeout buffet, and while we were having lunch, there were so many people doing takeout I was like wow! It was very very clean, too. I was very impressed that they came through and took all the serving spoons out of all of the buffet pans and replace them with new ones to cut down on the spread of germs. How impressive. And of course they have a regular menu if you do not wish to eat the buffet. And believe me they have everything you could imagine on this menu. They also have sushi. If you have not been there, you need to go. If you have eaten here before, you know...

At first glance, Chopstick looks inviting, and has potential. The buffet food itself is well displayed and promptly replenished. But while the food scores high on presentation, it falls miserably short on taste. This was some of the blandest food I have ever eaten anywhere, much less from a Chinese restaurant! The lo mein noodles weren't cooked in an Asian style, but more resembled Italian pasta, with soy sauce instead of marinara. The hot and sour soup was inedible, and the most disappointing part of the whole meal. I took one bite, and quickly had to kill the flavor with cake. The sauces often tasted like straight-out-of-the-bottle dollar store generic marinades, especially the sweet and sour sauce. The sushi was even bland and devoid of normal seasoning. The coconut shrimp was decent enough for fast Chinese food you might order in the mall, but not fully restaurant worthy, and the General Tso's chicken made me feel like I was just eating for sustainance, to get full; not for pleasure. I don't usually do reviews but Today was bad. I eat here at least 2x a week for lunch. Even have my coworkers hooked. Well today I drove the 30 min to eat lunch on a Saturday. As i was eating I looked on my plate at the baked crab dish and there was a dead fly cooked into it. I called waitress over and she got manager. Who looked at it and immediately took the plate. A few of them looked over plate and they took it to the back. Of course they apologized profusely but I couldn't finish eating. I got sick to stomach asked for check. So I played 17.96 today for a plate with a dead fly cooked in my meal with no discount. Only a I'm sorry and as I was leaving a I hope you ok. I threw up as soon as I got to my car as people asked if I was ok. I have been eating here since way b4 the pandemic cause it's by my job and I love their food but today was bad for me here.
