El Sauz Restaurant is a Mexican Food restaurant located at 1616 Anaheim Street. That's on the South side of Anaheim and Walnut. The restaurant has comfortable seating, decent food and pleasant service.
The cheese enchiladas and the main course I had were almost as good as you would find at most major chains. The portion size is very generous for the price.
It took the server a while to seat me. I think this was a communication gap. Regular customers seem to seat themselves at any available table. My impression was the server expected I knew this, but it's not the way I am used to being seated in most restaurants.
On the inside, El Sauz Restaurant is quiet, clean and friendly; It's easy to hold a conversation or meeting. And the servers took care of our orders quickly and politely. The one huge weakness I saw were the complimentary chips and salsa. I love good salsa. The salsa was average at best and the chips were just a little stale. I realize that was the complimentary part of the meal, but it's also their customer's first impression. There are people who do not give you a chance at a second impression.
Overall, I would call El Sauz Restaurant a three star restaurant, with pretty good main course meals. It can also boast fast friendly service and good seating. That said, there's definitely still a little room to...
Read moreI strongly advise against dining at this restaurant. I recently ordered five tacos from them - two Carnita tacos, one Cabeza taco, and two al pastor marinated pork tacos. Let's discuss the presentation. I placed this order through Uber Eats, which is typically not a good idea. When you order online, the quality tends to suffer compared to ordering in person. The tacos were extremely tough, almost like rocks. They were practically inedible, making those two tacos a complete waste. I have no idea what they did to them. It was so hard that I was afraid of breaking a tooth while trying to chew it. The Carnita tacos lacked any flavor, and the al pastor tacos were disappointingly gummy. I am thoroughly dissatisfied, especially considering I had to pay $18 for this subpar meal. This is unacceptable. If I were to report this to the health department or any other authority to have the food tested anonymously, they would surely receive a failing grade. Hopefully, they will be shut down because this level of quality is simply unacceptable. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about this establishment. I strongly urge you to dine elsewhere. If I didn’t have to give them any stars, I wouldn’t they do not deserve any...
Read moreI ordered from El Sauz via Uber Eats to celebrate my birthday, hoping for a delightful culinary experience. However, what transpired was far from celebratory. Regrettably, both my girlfriend and I suffered from food poisoning, which we strongly suspect stemmed from the tripas we consumed.
Throughout the night, we experienced severe gastrointestinal discomfort, leaving us feeling unwell and incapacitated the following day. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the tripas were inadequately cooked, bordering on raw. I have corroborated this with visual evidence in the form of a video and attached images for reference, along with the receipt to validate my experience.
While I cannot deny the potential quality of El Sauz's offerings, this unfortunate incident casts a shadow over any positive attributes the food may possess. As a first-time customer, this experience has left an indelible mark, one that I cannot overlook. I hesitate to dissuade others from trying El Sauz, but I must caution against the possibility of encountering similar issues. Overall, this experience warrants a regretful one-star rating.
I tried to call in but I guess there's no manager...
