Man, all this food is going straight to my hips. I'm gonna be sporting saddlebags before the month is over :O Where are my spanx when I need them?
Hof's Hut is currently having their Summer BBQ Menu which includes cornbread & choice of 2 sides and your choice of pie (apple, cherry, boysenberry). My choice du jour was the Cajun salmon fillet w/ garlic toast, cream corn & sauteed vegetables.
The garlic toast was warm & buttery. The toasting was just right, providing that oh so delectable crunch. The butter was a-flowin. I pinched the toast & butter oozed out of it like a sponge. Heavenly.
The Cajun salmon was cooked to perfection. Flaky & moist, with Cajun seasonings to give it a little kick. Nice sized fillet, too. The tartar sauce enhanced the sensation of flavor in my mouth.
The sauteed vegetables were good, especially when dipped in the aforementioned tartar sauce. The cream corn was sweet, which could've made it dessert on it's own.
However, why settle for that when free pie is included! I opted for the boysenberry pie. The free pie is a mini-sized pie, not a slice. It's great for sharing with another when you want just a little bit. The boysenberry was not too sweet nor sour, but just right. The crust was flaky & delectable. I only ate 1/4 of the mini-pie, which made me believe I was doing good on the calorie count........
Until I was told by the server that I get my choice of free birthday cake, chocolate or carrot. Holy good gravy! I love carrot cake, so I placed my grubby paws on a mini-carrot cake with icing & sprinkles. It was served cold, too, which I prefer. I had only a couple bites, but what bites they were! Delicious & party in my mouth good. I asked the server "No cantante?". He replied "No, no cantante." You'd think they'd sing me a birthday song, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. The cake, pie & other remaining leftovers were boxed up and we left with stuffed tummies.
I enjoyed my meal at Hof's Hut. My salmon entree was very good & the highlights of the night had to be the boysenberry pie & carrot cake. I will be taking bites from both of them everyday till they're gone.
I recommend dining here for classic restaurant fare & truly wonderful...
Read moreThe food at Hof's Hut in Long Beach is consistently excellent, and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. However, the service tends to be slower than expected and occasionally disorganized. It’s not uncommon to wait at the host stand while several staff members walk by without acknowledging you—though seating guests may not be their responsibility, a simple greeting would make the experience more welcoming.
Meals take longer than anticipated, but the wait is worth it because the food is outstanding and reasonably priced. That said, service can be inconsistent. Yesterday, a server noticed at the last second that one of our drinking glasses was dirty and, rather than swapping it out, wiped the rim with her fingers. It was a moment that reminded me of Thanksgiving with my aunt, who, when asked to pass the rolls, simply handed one over with her bare hands.
There were also some mix-ups with our order. Part of our meal arrived late—only for us to realize it had been delivered to the wrong table. When we pointed it out, the server retrieved the dish, and for a brief moment, I wasn’t sure if it would be replaced or just brought straight to us. The staff member reassured us we’d get a new plate from the kitchen, but it was back on our table so fast that I couldn't be entirely sure it wasn’t the same plate that had been sitting on someone else's table for 5 or 10 minutes. That said, I ate it, and it tasted great.
Bottom line: The food is excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and while the service is slower than expected and occasionally a bit unpolished, the staff is always friendly. If you don’t mind a leisurely pace and a laid-back, homey charm—where kindness sometimes outweighs professionalism—Hof's Hut in Long Beach will always satisfy you with...
Read moreAnother Business not recognizing America people. Staff foreign. Atmosphere need ventilation serviced and fact required have a host to reject fumigating customers or offer patio seating but do not allow customers to walk thru restaurant to restroom etc. So just reject customers of health and safety hazards and notify environmental services of the city for assistance. Customers had Cremation and or chemical fumigating aroma and believe eating will make them feel better. I hated the smells of different tables and ordered to go. Serving of food substandard the staff pushed at me items not ordered but not a delight to my eyes to eat. Missing items and utensils had to speak of and requested an appropriate receipt. Basically the Staff male and female displayed a forwardness at me that was obvious they didn't want me at the Business and not to return. This was my 2nd visit with different staff.
