Hungry Horse Drive-In — Restaurant in Long Beach

Used to eat at this place back in the early 1980's when it was owned by Mr Corn and Ms Ear. No joke, Mr Corn was the landlord and Ms Ear owned the Hungry Horse. Always reliable food and never had problems with it. Stopped by and was surprised to see the Hungry Horse was still operating whereas the neighboring businesses have closed up. This time, I ordered my regular Chicken Plate and I got it exactly the same way it was made 40 years ago. Tasted the same as I remembered it, too. The place appears to have never been remodeled but looks clean like it always has been in the past. It was peaceful to merely sit in the small tables outside and enjoy my lunch. Shockingly enough, the price is very low. My Chicken Plate was a little over 6 bucks at the Hungry Horse. At the Century City Farmer's Market, a simular chicken plate with less weight costs $16!!! Today, Monday 6/16/25, here at work, I went to go take my lunch. I wanted to try this place called Hungry Horse. I stopped by customer service, which was friendly, and I ordered number 16 on their menu, which comes with salad and white rice mix grill meats shrimp chicken and beef. Personally, I dont like my plate, so I have no reason. This plate was perfect. The amount of meat rice and salad was perfect. I opened my meal so delicious, not over exaggerating it was so bomb I ate so comfortable. Details… well, this place is literally a drive up and park environment. You can walk or wheelchair up to see the menu board easily and order. Also, since it’s outdoors your pet can join you. There aren’t any seats so you’ll have to figure that out.

It isn’t just a burger spot you can get egg rolls and different teriyaki bowls… I had gotten the #10 combo plate (chicken & beef) this comes with white rice a side salad and Mac salad.
