If you’re a fan of tacos, and haven’t been to @tacos_lacarreta, then you’re missing out. They’re a Mazatlán-style taquería (truck in North Long Beach, restaurant in Whittier) that specializes in carne asada. The asada is tender cuts of beef sirloin that have been kissed by a mesquite grill—and served with several variations of corn and flour tortillas: toritos, chorreadas, vampiros—and more. I’m partial to the torito, which is a dish that won them Best in Show at @lataco’s Taco Madness last year. Flour tortilla, melted cheese, roasted Anaheim chile, grated cabbage, house-made salsa, and the aforementioned asada—lathered in lard and pressed against the plancha, the result is a textural treat of soft and pliable tortilla, tender and smoky asada, bright salsa, and crunchy cabbage. The vampiro is a simpler dish—plancha-crisped corn tortilla is the base for asada, cabbage, onion, and salsa. It’s more of a blank palate serving as a great platform for the various salsa they serve on the side; the salsa de aguacate is a particular hit. If you’re looking for a different cut, they also serve tripa—fattier and funkier—but I like it. They also plan to serve adobada soon. For your next taco adventure be sure to visit Tacos La Carreta. Oh, I forgot to mention, they also landed on @latimes “101 Best Restaurants” list as a *taco truck.*

I ate there 2 times First time was delicious and I can’t wait to go back again but second time the 2 tacos was too salty , very salty the vampire ( I don’t remember cause they gave me wrong order ) I was order two different tacos but they gave me same thing when I went back and asked They just explained like they are a bit different 😫 don’t even offer to fix it. And I paid $18 for the whole thing( 3 orders) The quesadilla was the best from those ordered, but I don’t think it’s worth the money After this I didn’t go back

Stop being "loyal" to your taco truck and come here.

Our #1 fourth meal location. Living in Long Beach I have many taco places to choose from, but it is 100% worth the drive to get their carne asada tacos. I have tried a few other items on the menu, but the tacos are where it is at. They also provide you with 3-4 different salsas, guacamole, pico de gallo (that is pico de mas que un gallo), limes, grilled onions and jalapeno. It is a great price and...

AMAZING. The wife & I order a Torito, Quesadilla & Papas Locas. They give you generous portions. The food was delicious, the meat’s so damn tender. The salsas aren’t spicy they’re all about the flavor. We can’t wait to go back. The lady who took our lady was so friendly too, so you can never go wrong with a place serves amazing food and gives you...
