TLDR: Waitress was super rude, implied I can't read, got mad I was asking for stuff I paid for. Manager was pretty good and tried to take care of me, but also was upset I didn't tell her my issues when she came by the table (she did not say a word to us until I complained), and very offended I called the aoli "mayo". Also implied I'm stupid and can't read until she looked at the menu and realized I was right.
This was a wild dining experience. This is the second time I have ever complained to a manager of a restaurant (I have worked in food service for 10+ years, I get things happen)
I ordered a burger that came with an ingredient (aoli) that was not listed on the menu. No big deal it happens, I figured I would just ask for a new bun and switch everything over myself so they would would not have to recook everything. Waited more than 10 minutes for our server to come back, got fed up, and flagged down a different server and requested the bun.
5 minutes later my server comes by with a menu stating "demi glaze ramoloude for DIPPING" was the aoli, implying I can't read. I told her that is absolutely not what came on my burger, and also I can't dip my sandwich into something that is already on my burger. At this point she was pissed and finally after another 10 minutes came back with a toasted but (food was ice cold at this point as it had been sitting on the table for 30 minutes)
This is also when I told her my partners sandwich did not come with the bacon it was supposed to which fully set her off, she did not speak to us for the rest of the night though she made sure to help other tables.
A manager comes back with a plate stacked high with bacon (honestly it was so much it seemed like they were trying to insult us/prove a point) asks out server "are they good??" And walks away, never speaking to us or checking in.
We finish our meal and then I walked to the front to complain since I didn't want to make a scene. She did apologize for the experience, but she ALSO pulled out the menu to show me my burger came with aoli, and was flustered when it did not say it under the item. EVEN IF IT DID SAY IT WTH???? ALL I WANTED WAS A BUN!!!!! Luckily I did learn to read, it wasn't there and she promised to change the menu description.
She then saif she wished we brought up the issue when she checked on our table after we got the bacon. She never said one word to us the entire time, just asked our server "are the good?" And walked away. We thought she was a cook.
She did take the burger off and all in all was pleasant and apologetic.
Moral of the story I felt like I was in the Twilight zone. I'll probably try it again at some point and change me review accordingly, but wow that was honestly a wild ride. It happens though no...
Read moreI decided to stop by for food and wine and I am so glad I picked this lovely little gem!
Food: 9/10 The menu isn’t so vast so you aren’t overwhelmed with choices, but I still asked the bartender for his recommendation and I’m so glad I did! I had to take this place up on their statement that they had the best burgers in LB, and even though I got a burger with quite a bit going on it did not disappoint! Any meat lover will dive into the napoleon with pure delight and the red blend wine the bartender recommended to pair with the burger was purely divine. I am sad I couldn’t experience the fondue Gouda cheese and had to opt for the vegan cheese instead due to my extreme lactose and tolerance. The fries were the only part that was simply ok, I would recommend offering seasoned fries because they were quite bland, but perhaps it’s a great options for people not wanting to take in too much salt.
Vegans can be happy with this joint because they have several vegan options! Also note they have beer on tap that isn’t in the menu.
Service: 10/10 Luis took such good care of me and I enjoyed all of his recommendations. He was very attentive, patient, kind and knowledgeable of the menu.
Ambiance: 10/10 Laid back and decent amount of seating. As usual I just seat myself at the bar. Clean and welcoming!
Just be aware that the parking is the same as any other joint in DTLB, gotta cross your fingers and hope you get something close by. They’ve turned the street curb parking into paid parking. I lucked out and found an available spot in the neighborhood right...
Read moreHorrible service. I ordered my food and waited 30 minutes before heading to the restaurant. When i arrived i asked one of the waiters and he said he would check and went to the back. When he came back he didn’t say a word to me and walked outside and passed me about 10 times before i decided to ask someone else. Then next waiter just looked at me as i tried to ask him for the order and he ignored me. Then the guy I’m guessing worked as the host as he had the tablet approached the people that had just walked in and i tried to explain the situation and he just walked away saying that they were working on it without even checking and i stated that i had been waiting for 15 mins already and he asked for the name then walked over to the tables and wiped one down and went outside. He didn’t even bother to go to the back and ask. The fourth guy approached me and i told him what happened and that at this point i had been waiting for 30 mins in the restaurant and 30 at home and he said that they were very busy and then went ot go check. When he came back he said that they were still working on it and that it might be 20 more minutes so i just left and didn’t bother asking for a refund. I ordered through uber eats so ill try to get my refund from there. Waisted more than an hour because of them with drive time. Worst experience i have ever had at...
