First off I have to say I write about one review a year when I feel it's warranted. This feels like one of those times.
We live about 40 minutes away and were in the area for a hockey game. As a hockey family we go out and try new places pretty much every week when we have away games. So not our first rodeo. I have driven by this place a number of times and always looked like a fun place and was excited when a group of parents suggested we try it.
Our group was about 16 adults. The place is fun and started out fine.
I ordered a drink and asked for a short as I didn't want a bunch of mixer. They made it a tall and when I asked the server to correct it she made a comment that she would merely pour it into a different glass. I'm sorry but thats not the same.
Moving on I wanted a burger and it turns out a basic cheeseburger and fries is on happy hour until 530pm. She asked if anyone wanted to order before happy hour ends so many of us were ready and ordered.
A short time later another employee came out with food and asked who had the kids burger meal? None of us.
Then the server came back out and stated that she had to ring it as a kids meal to get the happy hour price as she sent the food in after 530pm. I'm sorry but that is not the same thing. She states oh its the same burger and that's what I would have received no matter how she rung it up? Really, my plate was not the same as anyone elses, I didn't receive the same portion of fries as everyone else, it was on a kids plate. It was a joke, no one could believe it and she just played it off and wouldn't do anything about it. I've been a server and I'm not one to make a big deal out of it I just won't go back and make sure to let people know. The menu says it's a 1/3 pound burger yet the people who ordered the double stack burger which is two 1/5 pound patties were larger patties than I received. So a kids meal burger and fries is apparently $11. I could have had a full adult burger entree for $14. The cost wasn't the issue. What a disappointment and they didn't seem to care! Too many other restaurants to try to put up with an experience like...
Read moreThis has always been a great local establishment, owned by one of our own, whom lives right here in town. (sometimes a rarity, in our neck of the woods)
However, I don't remember the 6 oz glasses being filled to the brim with ice, adding a drop of your favorite liquid costing $4.40?
Apparently, they've gone upscale with their pricing, to, perhaps keep up with the more expensive tavern in town. (A tree name, that rhymes with perches)
Perhaps next time I'll pay the higher prices elsewhere, and maybe get a little more bang for my buck. However, I wouldn't change the food menu, by much, it's always a good choice for something good to eat!
Not knocking ya Dave, however, you did let Alexandra go! 😥
Wait a minute, New Owners? (I'm going to have to get back to you on the entire review, after some further investigation)
This could be the entire issue with the glasses getting smaller, and the prices getting higher. I'll find out, and get back to you on this hideous rumor!
I truly hope Dave didn't sell out. Especially, to an out of towner! This could...
Read moreThe burgers were not what I expected: I was hoping for an old-school burger-basket burger, the thin burger with the crispy edges and lots of grease. This was a very thick burger that only comes in 1/3 lb., unless you get a double (2, 1/4 lb patties). I should have gotten one of the "double" patties all by itself. It might have been better. But the flavor of the burger was not to my liking. Much too strong, not juicy, not salty. The flavor was somewhat sour, almost like venison. Tots were good, but you can't credit the restaurant for that. The atmosphere in the late afternoon was not particularly friendly or welcoming. Rather empty, which is fine, but the restaurant was not available, only the bar, so we were forced to sit with the day drinkers. If you don't want that, I would think earlier or later would get you in...
