The pizza capricciosa I ordered had a good crust and sauce, however, I was surprised to have canned mushrooms placed on the pizza. Fresh mushrooms keep rather well in the right environment and have a far superior taste and texture versus canned or frozen. A true Italian pizza would be made of fresh ingredients. . . . seeing is it called old world pizza I'd expect a little more like the old world.
Update 7/20/18: The pizza this time was much better. I ordered the same pizza as I did last year. I can say that this is the best pizza in town. It make me regret that It has taking me so long to come back. Then again the main reason is I don't eat pizza or bread too often so its a real treat to eat something that contains bread. The crust was my favorite part of the whole pizza. My coworkers and agreed that the crust was cooked perfectly. The bottom was cooked to a crisp, to where it had a satisfying crunch as you took a bite, the upper part was soft and chewy like a good bread should be. I expect nothing less from a baker, after all pizza is a baked good. The sauce tasted homemade, with the right flavor profile. Over all everything was more than perfect. I am curious if the prosciutto is imported, and if so what...
Read moreMy wife and I dropped by this spot while passing through Longmont today - turned out to be a real treat. Not usual to see a pizzeria alongside a bakery, but both sides of the business were handled well.
My calzone was excellent and the marinara sauce delivered excellent flavors. My wife said she enjoyed her ravioli. Portion sizes were good and I was grateful they didn't overpower my dish with cheese and garlic. Somehow, they used just enough so I could taste each ingredient, including the crust (which might've been my favorite part). That flavor from the wood-fired oven is very nice. Hard to find a chef who knows how to balance everything out.
We also bought four different pastries from the display case and enjoyed them all. Again - these aren't laden with butter and cream and canned filling - they're flaky, layered and delicious. Each pastry was unique.
We're hoping a follow-up visit proves equally satisfying. It'd be great to have a place we look...
Read moreWent at 4:30pm for the buffet. Everything looked liked it had been sitting there since the lunch buffet. Tasted like it as well. One pizza was out with half veg and half pepperoni. That was best part of meal but still looked like it had been sitting for hours. Salad bar had a container of old lettuce and old spinach and container of onions. Some containers with dressing. There was a hot food bar with old chicken, rice and meatballs. The sauce on top the meatballs was okay. Nothing there was worth the $12 per person. If everything had been fresh maybe would have been worth it. Was hoping for an experience like Woody' s pizza from a decade ago. Very disappointed. How this place has an average of 4 stars is beyond me. Save your money go...
