I went in and sat down waited for a few minutes and nobody came to give me a menu or take my order. I figured I was supposed to go up to the counter. After waiting for a while at the counter I finally placed an order. They told me to sit down and then they gave me a menu and I had to wait to place my order instead of just taking my order when I placed it at the counter. When I sat down there was a bug running across the table. Not super charming.
Went in for a bowl of pho and some spring rolls. They got my order wrong and brought me 'not spring rolls'. They immediately realized they made a mistake but acted like they didn't understand what I was saying when I asked to exchange the 'not spring rolls' for spring rolls. The meat in the 'not spring rolls' was grizzly and disgusting. The 'not spring rolls' also came with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce, which is a little unusual. The waiter got uncomfortably close to my food and at one point I thought he was going to bare hand my spring rolls. It was very weird.
I had to ask for chop sticks, a spoon, and a napkin two different times. They actually brought me all my food before I had anything to eat with. When I did get my chopsticks the waiter held them in his hand on the end that you are supposed to eat with. I found that to be disgusting.
I would consider their large bowl of pho to be a small size at any other pho place I have ever eaten at. They didn't supply a little dish for my sauce which was annoying. The meat in the soup was of low quality and did not taste fresh in any exaggeration of the word. The noodles were average and the broth was nothing to write home about. When It was time to pay the waiter took my card and when he brought it back he didn't bring a pen and I couldn't get his attention, so I had to go slumming around the restaurant for a pen.
My favorite part of my experience was leaving. I am just a little bummed out that I wasted a meal eating there. The people working there were nice, but they were extremely awkward, and didn't have much going...
Read moreMy sister and I used to frequent this place because I love pho and wanted to support a family-owned business, but I wanted to write this review because I got whiplash of a memory about this place when I was craving pho.
On July 4th, my friend and I had called to check the hours and whoever picked up (after confirming it was Saigon Express) told me they were open until 7pm. I saw a sign for the hours and was confused because it said they closed at around 5pm and it was 15 minutes before. I decided we could at least go inside and clarify just in case, but when my friend and I entered, we got immediately and aggressively shooed out by the owner without even a chance to explain ourselves. It was really unnecessary and all they had to do was say "I'm sorry but we're going to close very soon." Instead they acted like I was demanding to be served because they were still technically opened when in reality I didn't even get a chance to turn my head after entering or ask my question. After that, it left a really bad taste in my mouth and I never came back, especially after tastier pho places opened near Village Peaks. Why assume the worst of me when I hadn't even gotten a single word out of my mouth?
All in all, the food is decent from what I remember, but their pho just wasn't as flavorful compared to all the different pho places I have tried in my lifetime and in the area. The chow fun was pretty nice, but not worth exclusively coming for.
I understand they're trying to make a living, but the reason I am writing this review is to tell the owners to honestly just treat their customers better and consistently. They had been generally friendly in other times prior but this one time was so bad it overwrote every other experience. I am glad they survived the pandemic, but I just hope they do better because it won't be with...
Read moreFirst off, you’ll see in my reviews I give praise when deserved, and shun when needed. Today I had lunch and dined in. I ordered the rare steak pho and chicken wings. Before was OK. The steak was a little tough like it had been sitting in there or maybe wasn’t their normal cut of rare steak. It was already in the bowl when it arrived to the table. The wings as you will see in the photo came out a little short, no pun intended. If I’m going to pay nine dollars for six wings it would be nice to have an actual chicken wing and not just a piece of bone and Skin. To make this more interesting, I’m looking around for my waiter so I can get my check, mentioned my Wing short coming and get on with my day. All to find him sitting down having lunch. My water had been empty the entire meal and I asked him if he would kindly discount the chicken wing plate because who would pay three dollars for those two sad pieces of chicken remnants. He replied I’ll let the owner know next time. No worries good service is reflected in the tip, that’s the beauty of it. You may have a different experience but this is not a good one for me. One star for multiple fails today. No...
