Ki Mexico ETX — Restaurant in Longview

Eclectic is definitely how I would describe the vibe. The indoor music is a mix of old school rock and roll, with new sounds that compliment that same vibe which I'm personally a fan of. The incorporatelion of Ki's food is definitely a combination that works. It's not TexMex fare. We had the Torta Nopalitana, pastor & fish tacos coupled with the queso & chorizo fundido. The food was great!Greenside has always had a different atmosphere, which is always a welcome break from the southern country aesthetic that tends to dominate the area. The beer and wine variety is always satisfying, and, paired with the food selection, just works. Curating a selection of what's good rather than what's common makes this place stand out. I am literally writing this review with a quesadilla in one hand, cell phone in the other hand and birria juice dripping from my chin! Wow!!!

This place is awesome. Ki is about 75% Mexican and a bit of a fusion style. It is not your typical Mexican restaurant, and that's a wonderful thing. The wife ordered the shrimp (camaron) taco and she was making noises of pleasure the entire time she was eating. Two things about this situation honestly bothered me. First, she didn't offer me a bite. Second, and more important, I was afraid she was about to reinact the iconic scene from When Harry Met Sally. That would have been embarrassing.

Our group of 4 tried this venue on the recommendation of a relative. Have to say it was a pleasant surprise and a fun, eclectic experience. We were probably on the older end of the customer spectrum (late 50s/60), with most looking like they were in their 30s, but that didn't matter. The service was great, the food across the board was fantastic, the wine was great, and they had live music going on outside as locals streamed in for it. Kind of neat concept, and love the way it is part of the resurgence of downtown Longview. Hope it continues to do well and grow!...
