Been visiting Longview for a long time. This was our first time coming to this place. I have to say, it will be in our rotation on our next visit. Have to thank several locals who recommended it.
If you didn’t know where you were going (and someone else was driving), you would think something suspicious was going on . . . esp. if they had a tarp and a shovel in the backseat! You are basically in a bleak, industrial area of town just South of Tennant and just off California Way. Not a lot of lights or activity in that area on the night we drove there. And then, voila, a beacon in the darkness with a parking lot full of cars and trucks! A good sign.
Though it was busy, we were able to quickly get a corner seat. The exterior certainly has the modernized roadhouse look to it, and the interior has a complimentary faux-retro/industrial vibe with warm lighting and various beer- and liquor-related knickknacks festooning the walls. The space itself is quite large, with lots of seating (for drinking and/or eating) options. There are also rolling glass garage door styled windows, and additional areas outside, for when the weather is behaving. The servers were more attentive than expected, quick with drink refills and gracious in responding to dietary questions (annoying, I know, on a busy night).
The food? The menu is well-designed to focus on a limited selection of standard ‘bar food’ options (rather than being a sprawling range of items that confuse and frustrate the back-of-house staff). Though portions weren’t huge, I think the price to quality ratio was spot on. And they also have a limited amount of vegetarian and vegan options. The fried pickles had a nice snap and the slight hint of dill. Side salads were nicely composed and fresh. Though I wish the burgers were prepared according to customer preference (I like mine medium rare), they were an acceptable medium with ample accompaniments and a brioche bun that held up to what was placed inside it. The Cajun fries, though under-seasoned, were crispy. The onion rings had batter that held the onion in place (not an easy thing to do). We all left more than happy and full.
Like I suggested, this was a pleasant surprise and won’t be the last time we visit. Good food. Warm vibe. Excellent service.
Thanks, Porky’s, for treating a frequent visitor (and his group)...
Read moreI made a to go order over the phone and stopped after work to pick it up. I ordered the mushroom burger and Cajun tots for my husband and the tots had no seasoning on them and were just plain overly cooked tots. I ordered the pub nachos for me because when I went in with a friend to pick up her to go order and they walked out of the kitchen with an order of nachos just fully loaded with all kinds of topping on them. I asked the lady behind the counter what it was and she told me and I said I will come back and order that one day and I did. She told me if I wanted meat on it that it would be extra. So I ordered the pub nachos with grilled chicken. When I got home and opened the container I was so upset that I just wanted to turn around and take them back but I didn’t want to give them any more of my money and that would include the gas it would take to drive back there. $68.00 wasted. The nachos were a container of nacho chips a sprinkle of grated cheese, a few pieces of tomato, a few pieces of green onions and the chicken was Ice cold. Nothing was hot the cheese wasn’t melted. And on the side they gave me what was Nacho cheese sauce that tasted like what you get out of a jar. There were no other toppings included not even on the side in containers. I tried dipping the chips in the cheese but the nachos were awful it looked like I bought a bag of cheap nacho chips and a jar of cheese sauce and that’s exactly what it tasted like. It’s to bad because we had plans to go back with family the day after thanksgiving for dinner but that has been canceled we will not go back and we will go elsewhere. Like others have said it’s overpriced and the food is not that great at all. Or maybe when it’s a To go order they don’t care if they rip you off or just give you whatever because they probably figure no one will come back and confront them about...
Read moreThe management here is rude and disrespectful. They are quick to write up individuals for unforeseen circumstances and even after they still feel the need to degrade individual. They speak in sarcastic tones and act as if someone is incompetent, which is quite frankly disgusting behavior. The owners, bartenders and managers do not show any sort of compassion for staffs busy lives (car issues, running behind, unforeseen circumstances) the owners act like their business is failing because of an employee running late on their birthday, if anything they have caused it to fail due to the way they fail to be understandable and treat employees wrongfully. An employee may have a responsibility to be on time, but it’s not the end of the world and if you’re notified, as a business it’s your responsibility to keep it afloat until they come in not make an individual feel belittled for it!! Otherwise, you’ll have a continuous cycle of employees quitting and their families will not come back as customers. Maybe the business wouldn’t fail if the owners knew how to manage and run a business correctly, or take care of customers while covering until they get in for work. In every profession there will be some staff whom show up late or even don’t come in due to feeling ill or unforeseen circumstances, geez I’d love to see how they handle that. The big difference is a successful business treats their employees with respect and doesn’t ridicule individuals, learn to treat everyone with respect and not inhumane treatment & then maybe your business would be successful. You gain a bad reputation treating people with sarcasm, showing no understanding/ kindness. God...
