UPDATE: dropped back to a three. The food is good and the bartenders are fantastic. Bathrooms are clean, as is the establishment. The beers were a complete miss this time. The Nelson IPA had nelson hop notes, but was otherwise flat. I also had the Marzan, it has not malt character at all??? Everything just tasted watered down. The standard lager was good as it usually is though. I will return as always to see if anything changes.
EDIT: Increasing my rating to 4 stars. I have been back several times now. The beer has gotten better and, if we are being honest, is better than Hourglass because who knows what in the hell is going on over there. The one thing I can't shake is the decor. It is just depressing. Dark in all areas except for the middle bar which is all concrete. Everytime I sit down I think of that Counting Crows song where "they paved paradise, and put in a parking lot." It is just drab. Beer is getting mich better, staff is still fantastic, but the decor...
It is a nice location and the staff is friendly but the beer needs a bit of work. Mark the bartender is a great guy and extremely friendly. The interior however needs a lot of work. It is blue and that is really all that can be said about it. It is blue and concrete with a tv mounted high on a wall playing 90s- newage punk. They also apparently did not have someone who could work in the kitchen so we had to order out. They have 18 taps, however, many of the beers seem to have the same base beer but with different additives, additives being the keyword. The Standard Classic lager is decent and the Sojourn witbier is tasty. It has only been open for a week and undoubtedly will get better, but it has tough competition with Hourglass down the road, which the owner knows as he used to be an owner there. I will definitely be back in a few weeks to see what improvements...
Read moreAlestone is by far my favorite place to get a beer and a bite in the Longwood/Casselberry/Altamonte Springs area. I’ve sampled a lot of the menu, and I’ve never been disappointed; I’m always impressed with the bread, whether it’s a pretzel, hot dog bun, or pizza, because it’s flavorful and clearly freshly baked. On top of it, the menu is super reasonably priced for the quality and portion size. In addition to the food, the beers are solid and varied, and they also offer a number of ciders and hard seltzers for the gluten-free group or non-beer-drinkers. They have a large outdoor seating area, as well as a sizable indoor space with high tops, tables, and a stand-alone bar, all with a view through windows of the brewing tanks. One little detail that I love is the fact that there are charging outlets with USB plugins everywhere, including at the bar. This is the kind of place I wish I had when I was in grad school, or if I worked from home. All around a gem...
Read moreI got cut off after 2 beers because my boyfriend and I were having a political conversation. Not arguing or heated just talking about the past and current administration . She said she would feel more comfortable if I had water or food because she clearly didn’t agree with my political views. I went to the restroom and she went to my boyfriend and said something about talking about politics is stupid on a date. It wasn’t a date he and I have been together for over 2 years so I don’t give a flying hell who you voted for but the fact you cut me off because I’m a republican is pathetic. I have been here a few times but I will never be here again. Cutting someone off because they voted for a certain party is just more proof of how pathetic liberals are so honestly thank you I will never spend my...
