While reading this review, I want you to keep in mind that the restaurant has only been open in two weeks. I usually do not write reviews after only my first visit, but I feel like this restaurant has great potential so I would like them to know what they could work on early. I would also like the reader to keep in mind that my pallet is well advanced. So my opinion about the food may definitely not be your opinion about the food. I am a person that eats high-quality food multiple times a week.
First, I would like to speak on the environment… the decor and the ambience was excellent. This is definitely the place to go if you want an intimate date night. I went during the daytime so it was well lit inside, but I would recommend turning down the lights for a more moody feel.
Next, I would like to speak on the service. I am not going to state names. I’m just going to speak of overall service in general. My server was nice but, a major issue I had with the service is the staff members not was not knowledgeable about the menu or about what they were serving. I ordered one of the most expensive menu items called Omasake and she could barely say the names of the fish and also stated that she does not eat seafood, which I found confusing because she works at a sushi restaurant. It caused a great disconnection in my experience.
I will not speak on the food too much because I didn’t order a huge variety of items. I ordered two appetizers took part in the Omasake experience. The appetizers were subpar. The gyoza was nothing special and tasted as though it was Store-bought and just warmed up. The clear soup tasted like a packet of powder that was added to water. It was entirely too salty and was nothing special.
The Omasake on the other hand wasn’t bad. I think that’s what’s going to make this restaurant special is very difficult to find Omasake available before 4 PM and without a reservation so it was nice to be able to get it at 12pm as a walk in. The quality of fish also wasn’t bad. I’ve had better of course, but I didn’t feel as though they owed me anything after eating it because you get 10 pieces for $50 which is unheard of.
If this restaurant is wanting to cater to the masses they’re already doing a great job, but if they are wanting to cater to high clientele and people who love quality sushi. I think they have a lot...
Read moreSince I been in Florida for the last 6 years, my wife and I have given up on middle-high tier Japanese restaurant where the food isn't over salty or sweet until today. Miyaji truly brought out a good balance of flavors on all of the their items. During this visit we ordered stir fry udon noodles with vegs, hibachi filet dinner, Sushi & Sashimi Omakase, and seared tuna & charred rice sushi. Stirred fry udon noodle was perfect not to dry or overly sauced. Both of my kids ate it up like there was no tomorrow. The hibachi filet dinner was a surprise for me as I was expecting low grade filet, but I was proven wrong as the filet was very tender and flavor was well balanced. The vegs could do a long cooking for my kids, but I was fine with it as is. The sushi & Sashimi Omakase was the biggest surprise because for the price you get 8 pieces of sushi and 12 pieces of Sashimi at mid to high tier quality which is unheard of around Central Florida. Additionally, the omakase actually came with freshly graded wasabi. The seared tune and charred rice sushi was excellent, it was lightly spiced tune with charred rice that made the bite more like high-end comfort food rather than typical sushi. Lastly, the service was excellent as we got our food quickly and piping hot. Overall, our experience with Miyaji was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant. For me Miyaji has replaced Wa Sushi as my favorite Japanese restaurant around Lake Mary, Casselberry, Winter Spring, Oviedo, Longwood, Maitland and...
Read moreIf you are a sushi lover and you like to eat GREAT sushi, this is not the place.
Firstable I have to say that prices are fair for the food they are selling, I have been in manny different places of sushi in town and this prices are not bad.
Even tho, the sushi is “Chinese buffet quality” and don’t take me wrong, there is nothing against those place, but when I saw this place has 4.8 stars + some of the reviews I thought will be a gem hidden in the middle of Lake Mary
The sashimi, fish and rolls weren’t cool (almost warm which doesn’t make me feel confident about the plates
I took some pictures of the food and of the menu to give you an idea!
But here was our order and and the weighting we gave to each dish:
(1) Edamames 7/10 (1) Pork Gyosa 4/10 (2) Miso soup 10/10 (1) New Cannan (special roll) 2/10 (1) Chili mango (special roll) 2/10 (1) Sushi & Sashimi Plater 1/10
I need to add that we didn’t request a “Sushi & Sashimi Plater” instead we were expecting “Sashimi Platter” and because the waitress confuse our order… I’m giving a bonus review about this plate, the sashimi are too thick the salmon and tuna looked fresh but they felt quite slimy, the nigiri has a good amount of fish but the presentation over the rice was disgusting, and the bonus sushi, no words more words than cheap and basic.
The waitress gave us a match mochi from the house and this...
