Key City Diner — Restaurant in Lopatcong Township

I absolutely love coming to Key City Diner! The menu offers such a large variety of options that there’s always something for everyone, whether you’re craving breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their coffee bar is a nice touch with plenty of options to complement any meal and the soups of the day are always fresh and delicious.

During our visit today; on January 12, 2025, around 3:00 PM, we had an exceptional experience thanks to the young server with braids working that shift. He was incredibly well-mannered, respectful, kind and attentive. His customer service was top-notch—he kept our table well cared for and made us feel valued as guests.

The portions here are generous and every dish is prepared with care. On top of that, the entire staff seems respectful and genuinely happy to serve their customers. It’s clear that the team takes pride in delivering excellent service and it makes each visit a pleasure.

We happened upon this diner on our way home after planning on stopping at Panera but driving right past it. "Let's stop here," we said. "It's a Jersey diner. How bad could it be?" we said. Turns out, pretty darn bad.

Ordered chicken tenders and fries. The chicken was what you'd expect in a nugget, not a tender - gross and unnatural. The fries were 'extra crispy' and had the consistency of dirt. I'm also not sure where they get their honey mustard but I've never seen it quite in that color before (neon). I briefly wondered if it was radioactive (kidding, of course, but the color was disturbing).

The service was so-so. I agree with many reviewer's complaints that the food was overpriced. I am flabbergasted by the amount of folks who claim this is best diner in NJ. They clearly haven't been through the rest of NJ.

I went here yesterday with my father for dinner. We ordered prime rib. We had small salads and a cup of soup included in our meals. When our meal came out it was so horrible we couldnt eat it. My father said it was so horrid he didnt want to eat any longer. They took it back and I was starving so I tried the turkey w/gravy (How do you mess that up?). It was also horrible. The gravy was yellow like mustard and the stuffing was mushy and tasteless. I asked for a box and brought it home to feed my animals. SOOOOOOOOOOO I spent $27 for 2 small salads and cup of soups.....and dog food. I used to go to this diner all the time while growing up and it was so good. WHAT HAPPENED????? I will never go back! I am insulted with the bill and HORRID food. They charged us the full amount for soup/salad bar and the turkey dinner that should have come with it. RIPPED OFF and very disapointed! NEVER GOING...
