Mutt & Jeff's Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in Lorain

I don't really enjoy going out, especially to bars. I am not much of a social person and can be a bit shy and introverted, especially around crowds so, I was hesitant to visit when a friend invited me during the week. The first time I visited and I've been going every Thursday since. This place is what I call Lorain's Cheer's bar. A bar where everybody does know your name and make you feel like family. The bartenders knew my first time, that I seemed nervous and anxious and they went out there way to make me feel so comfortable. They are friendly, courteous and now, they treat me like I've been a patron for years visiting. I always feel welcome and honestly, I feel like their family whenever I go. I met the bartenders Zack and Rachel who you can tell they really take pride in their work as well as the other bartenders, there. I love whenever I visit, that they greet me with my name and they always know my drink of choice which is vodka and cranberry. And the food, wow, is the food delicious, satisfying and comforting. The bartender Zack recommended my first meal which was a screaming burger with fries and now, it's my go to whenever I visit. As someone who has social anxiety and tend to avoid going out, it's like Mutt and Jeff's became my stress free zone. The cooks, like Brenden and others who work so hard in the kitchen, they really pay attention to detail and make the food giving me a whole new experience. I really love this place, and I enjoy going on Thursdays when they have karaoke, I don't sing but I love sitting and listening to the other patrons singing. This place really brings me joy and happiness and really has taken me out of my shell and making me feel so welcome and it's visiting my best friend's home or even family whenever I visit them! Thank you to the owners for hiring such amazing employees. I am always recommending this place to others, and will continue to do so. My mental health has been so much healthier visiting Mutt and Jeffs even if it's just to stop in for a bite to eat, a drink or two or just to come and listen to the karaoke singers. We had cheeseburger, onion rings, side salad, potato skins, mashed potatoes w/brown gravy and chocolate mousse cake. Delivery was exceptional, quick and kind I usually meet them outside but they were so quick it was delivered to my apt. door. Food is okay basic preformed burger very bland and plain condiments lettuce, tomato, onion are on the side cheese melted on burger. After I heated the burger and added my condiments it's a fair burger after I added salt, pepper mustard and mayo along w/ the lettuce, tomato and pickles provided. Onion rings are good. Oddly, side salad was extremely fresh w/ fresh ripe tomatoes, cukes and cheese dressing on side very good. And yes places can really mess up on a basic salad. Potato skins are okay a bit thick w/ potato then I'm used to more like a thinned out baked potato w/ cheese, bacon and chives on it sour cream on the side . What happened to a good old fashioned potato skin. I really miss them. But I really wanted some skins. Mashed potatoes were real and very lumpy. A bit more mashing and adding seasoning is needed but I appreciate that they are real potatoes, thank you. Chocolate mousse cake is more like a lightened frosting than mousse. It missed on the nice lite, airy mousse. Cake a bit dry but it was a good size piece which was greatly appreciated when most places are getting skimpy on portions this place isn't. I called prior to online ordering to find out I couldn't make any substitutions, as in, I wanted no bacon on my skins, no onions on burger and gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. But, he allows absolutely no substitutions. I don't think those requests are out of line. But to each his own, it comes down to ordering somewhere else that allows requests and your own wants or choices. I was well fed which was the goal.
