Tacos Al Vapor Michoacan — Restaurant in Los Altos

We’ve been ordering from Tacos Al Vapor quite a bit over the last year, glad to have this option in Los Altos. Food has been generally very good and we’ve been happy customers, but but we found a screw in my wife’s beef cheek taco yesterday. Good thing she didn’t bite down on it too hard… she thought it was a bone but spat out a screw. I thought it’s okay, it happens no big deal, we bring her remaining tacos back to the store, at least so that they know and make sure their equipment is tightened up so it doesn’t happen to other people. Went back to the store, told the cashier and immediately her response was “we don’t use this kind of screws”… she went to check with the kitchen, I assume the manager is manning the grill, I could see her body language was along the lines of “no way it happened here”. I’m thinking this is Los Altos, you think people would drive back in 95 degree heat just to scam your restaurant?! Cashier was then nice about it, asked what we wanted and offered us a refund on 1 of the 3 combo deals we ordered. It was fine but the important part was that they were pretty dismissive and didn’t seem like they really cared about the potential damage this could have caused and general food safety. If my wife had chipped a tooth this would probably have turned ugly. Not sure if...

This place is BOMB for the tacos alone. Yesterday was my first time trying them and I will be coming back soon lol.

As a Mexican who grew up in Mexico and moved here many years ago, it was really hard to find GOOD tacos and GOOD salsa. This place DELIVERED and I’m so glad I tried it, I can confidently say now whenever someone asks where to find good Mexican food that this is the place to go to.

I felt like I was at home because they offer a variety of salsas and you can serve yourself as much as you want. Not skimpy at all.

The taco meats are super flavorful and tender, I tried chicken, asada, beef tongue, suadero, chorizo, cabeza and carnitas and all of them were so yummy.

My only feedback is that I wish they would ask if you want everything on your tacos or not, as I don’t like onions but they didn’t ask and I forgot to ask so I ended up getting onions on my tacos.

We took the food home and the tacos were still pretty warm and good. However, it’s obvious that food will be so much better if you sit down to eat at the place and I’ll be happy to sit down next time.

I recently visited Tacos El Vapor in Los Altos on Main Street and had an extremely disappointing experience. I ordered a variety of tacos, including asada, chicken, carnitas, al pastor, and chicharron. When I got home, the order was completely wrong, and the tacos were cold. Returning to the restaurant to address the issue, I was met with a rude and dismissive attitude from the staff. The cook, who I later found out is also the manager, was especially unhelpful. Instead of remaking the entire order, they simply added two new tacos on top of the cold ones I had already received. It was clear that they did not care about providing proper customer service. Overall, this experience was incredibly frustrating. The lack of professionalism and poor attitude from the staff, especially from the manager, was unacceptable. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make improvements to their service. If I could give them 0 stars I would, -100...
