One of my favorite bars in LA!
It's not located in a crowded part of town which is what I loved about this place. No rowdy after work I'm going to get drunk crowd, empty tables when you can easily have a conversation with someone. I loved the exposed brick walls and the jazz music playing in the background. It felt like a secret bar or speakeasy as one would have to hear about this place and it is difficult to randomly stumble upon it.
It felt like a smaller version of the Edison, but more humble and come as you are and less "sceney"
They have a nice selection of craft beers and wine.

Read more1642 is a hidden gem! They offer a small yet fantastic selection of wine, beer and they also have non-alcoholic menu. The intimate ambiance with soft candlelight sets the perfect mood.
Just be aware, it's a bit small and can get crowded, especially during live music events. No air conditioning, so it can get warm, so drink up. Limited parking means you might need to find a spot nearby. The two restrooms might get busy when it's crowded, so plan your restroom visits wisely.
My experience at this location was delightful, exuding a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely return for more live music...

I truly dug this spot on my first visit, despite the lack of AC (and 82 degree nighttime weather outside). Nice selection of beer, wine and some vegan treats, it's a small establishment but with lots of heart it seems. Owner tends the bar, a ragtime duo plays in the corner on Tuesdays, there was even a friendly town drunk! The hipster in me doesn't want you to visit ("it's mine!") but the #ILoveLA side of me hopes you check out this special corner...
