Family and I ordered the curry goat, curry chicken, and curry shrimp, and a side of mac n cheese. We placed a phone order, and picked up the food. This process was simple.
At first, I was alarmed because we placed the order over the phone. When we went to pick it up. We were given the large plates. We all wanted the small plates of our respective dish. This issue was created by both me and the restaurant. I did not specify the size when I called in, and they did not ask to specify if we wanted the small or large dinner portion.
The food was ready when we arrived. For what we received portion wise and flavor, the prices were well within reason. Tbh, a large dinner plate can feed like 2-3 people.
My mom loved the curry goat. She said the goat was super tender and fell off the bone. My sister loved the curry chicken. She too said the chicken fell off the bone. Shrimps don't have bones, so there was no falling off the bone, however, the curry shrimp is really delicious. Seasoned perfectly. I LOVE plantains, and the ones that came with the meal? Chef's kiss 👌🏾. The rice and peas were standard and went well. The cabbage? Really, really good! Seasoned well and cooked to perfection. There were carrots in my plate. There were only two slices 😭 I was moving food around looking for more because they were really good. The festival bread was good.
We've all decided that we are going to add Ackee Bamboo into our rotation of Black Owned Businesses...

Read more(🇯🇲 Jamaican Gal In La) After losing my favorite Jamaican restaurant which is Stone's market on Crenshaw that I've been going to for over 40 years I was on a hunt to find a new Jamaican restaurant where the food tastes as/close to my mother's cooking or came close to a family Caribbean cookout... After reading the reviews online I decided to give this place a try for my birthday with my children. I must say it is one of the best first tries I've ever experienced in all my years in La of trying different places.
The service took a while but boy boy boy was it worth the wait. From the oxtail rice and peas to the curry chicken to the curry goat, BBQ jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, plantain, and the homemade juices and drinks and so much more.
This first try restaurant did not disappoint. As my children ate all they could think about was their grandmother's cooking. The food was originally order to take home but we decided to sit there and enjoy a hot fresh and ready and we're glad that we did we had so much leftover we were able to take it home and have food for a few days.. in all I...
