Bright, clean, friendly, Eyes Pealed Coffee is one of the most pleasant coffee shops that I have visited in LA.
At first glance, Eyes Pealed Coffee already impresses me with its excellent creative direction, from the warm and colorful wallpaper that sets an upbeat and vital tone for the shop to the playful yet sophisticated typeface used in their logo and menu.
Equally impressive is that they didn't try too hard and lose its authenticity. The coffee shop still feels like a community spot for the neighbors, not cool people only. Service is genuine and courteous, and the owner Gavy is always there. He strikes me as a down-to-earth, good-natured guy, exuding pride and love for what he does.
I visited the shop a few times and always had a decent experience. I wouldn't say their cappuccino is the best in town, but it's good enough not to distract me from appreciating and enjoying the overall experience. The other time I had the fun, summary chocolate banana iced latte, and it goes great with the vibe of the shop. I mean, it's hard to go...
Read moreI absolutely love Eyes Peeled Coffee! From the moment I first visited during my freshman year, I've been hooked. The staff is incredibly kind—so much so that I can't leave without tipping them. There was one time when I ordered their delicious iced matcha with oat milk, but I realized I was $5 short. One of their staff members generously let me have it for free, which moved me to tears. We need more kind people like him in the world! Of course, I went back the next day to pay for the matcha.
If I could give this café 10 stars, I would. The decor is amazing—such a vibe, especially with the music playing. I also love how they introduce limited-time food and drink options based on the season. Every weekday, I struggle not to come by for my weekly dose of iced matcha, and don’t even get me started on their avocado toast! This café deserves to be more recognized in Los Angeles—honestly, it’s better than Starbucks...
Read moreI overheard a woman from Brooklyn say that whenever she's in Los Angeles for work she comes to Eyes Peeled for their Matcha. And after having it, I can see why. I feel like everyone has their favorite drink here. My colleague told me yesterday that the Georgia On My Mind is his favorite and it instantly took me back to the first time I had it. The fragrance of the orange. All that to say, they're creating sensory experiences at Eyes Peeled. I had the rice bowl (see photo) and immediately made plans to try to replicate it at home. It didn't hit the same. Baristas are courteous, kind and thoughtful. My one grievance is that their ventilation system isn't the best so after being here a while my hair and clothes smell a bit like the coffee and food that was being cooked. I'll keep coming to Eyes Peeled as long as I'm in the neighborhood....
