Let me start off by saying these are some of the best tacos that are as close to TJ style tacos that you'll find anywhere in LA.
They have multiple locations mostly in the northern part of the LA Basin, and some are more crowded then others. I've tried the North Hollywood location and the line on a weekend could stretch blocks, luckily when I came to this spot not many people and the line is steadily moving. Located outside a Target parking lot if you're driving down the main Blvd its located on you cant miss it.
I wanna point out one thing that I truly loved about this place... The process and line movement. Everything is set up in one line and at the end you pay which I think is the best way to go about ordering these tacos. One of the things I hate most is having to push my way through or fight for the attention of the taquero just to place an order and then half the time never being able to hear my order when they call it. They set it up right here and I appreciate them for that.
Now the food... The meat here is delicious and they have all the typicals you'd find at your usual taco spot. The star of the show here is the Al Pastor forshure. So much flavor and they definitely don't skimp on portions here...I've yet to see a taco that isn't overflowing from here. Didn't get to try it this time around but one of the things they serve here thats blown up around Social Media is their Stuffed Potato. The guy ahead of me ordered it and this thing is a monster... packed to the brim with your meat of choosing and it looks delicious.
Everything is on point here and I've yet to be disappointed. Definitely in my top spots for tacos in LA, Check it out if you're...
Read morePer my dad, a self-proclaimed taco aficionado, you’ll feel as though you’ve died and went to heaven after taking a bite of the Al pastor taco, and I’m inclined to agree. Cash only taco tent on the sidewalk in front of Target. Street parking or it appeared that people also parked in the target lot. There was always a line, but it moved fairly quickly. The first line is where you can order burritos, mulitas, and potatoes of all meats except the Al pastor. The second line is for Al pastor tacos only. At the third table, you’ll pay for your food (no tax) and can get additional sides (I.e. limes, pickled veggies, etc) and napkins (you’ll need a lot).
The al pastor came with perfectly charred bits and accompanied by a small slice of pineapple. They put a generous amount of green and red salsa, as well as cilantro and onions when you ask for everything. The tortillas are all handmade and you can tell they value their food quality, as the taco man told my dad not to get the chorizo since it was just the leftover from the day. There’s no seating but the target lot has a sidewalk, or there’s always your car.
Long story short, get yourself some al pastor tacos whenever you need some late night food (they’re open until 1am on Saturday) and pat yourself on the back for treating...
Read moreI recently dined at this street taco restaurant, and I must say, it lives up to its reputation as one of the best in the nation. The Al pastor taco was a delightful explosion of flavors. It was juicy, with a perfect balance of savory and sweet notes that danced on my taste buds. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water, and the taste did not disappoint.
The corn tortillas were a testament to freshness, providing a soft and slightly chewy base that complemented the Al pastor filling perfectly. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
One highlight that took me by surprise was the Al pastor baked potato. It was a delightful twist on a classic dish, with the tender, flavorful Al pastor meat adding a unique twist to the potato. The combination was a mouthwatering experience, and I would highly recommend giving it a try.
The only downside to this fantastic experience was how quickly the restaurant fills up. It seems that everyone in town knows about this gem, and it stays bustling with eager diners. So, be prepared to wait for a table, but trust me, it's worth it for the incredible street taco experience...
