Great mochi donut spot in Eagle Rock / Glassell Park! Easy to pick up and delicious, rotating flavors. Also available are Korean Hot Dogs, Boba, and Coffee - didn't try those during our visit (Jan 2022)
GETTING THERE / PARKING: Mochinut is located in the corner of a small complex with its own parking lot; it was easy to find a parking spot for our pickup order.
PICKUP: Masks required to enter and helpful social distances stickers clearly showing how the flow should be once you enter, approach the cashier on the left side, wait on the right side. There is no indoor seating available currently but interior doesn't feel stuffy at all, there is also a display of the mochinuts available and menus for drinks or hot dogs if you wish.
I showed my pickup order and was handed my box of 3 mochinuts immediately - so quick! Nice and timely, maybe 5 minutes since I entered (waited for one person before me to order).
MOCHINUTS: Brought the CHOCO CHURRO, STRAWBERRY FUNNEL, and ORIGINAL GLAZED donuts home and ate them immediately! These are made in advance but still had that fresh texture for mochi donuts, an ever so slight crust giving way to a chewy, light interior, and not too sweet. The toppings were not too thick and were in perfect proportion to each of the little mochi donut ring-balls. Best flavored one was the CHOCO CHURRO, lightly dusted with choco-cinnamon-sugar, but all were great, the strawberry funnel with powdered sugar and a tangy strawberry drizzle, and the original just picture perfect with its shiny glaze.
Great experience and would...
Read moreOk, I have to say, these donuts are amazing!! BUT... the reason why I gave them 4 stars is for the following reasons: The donuts are pricey, you can get 3 donuts for $7.50, that is $2.50 per donut. ALSO: they open at 11:00, so if you want a donut in the morning to go along with your tea or coffee, it's not gonna happen. I wish they opened at 8:00 or 9:00, because who wants a donut around lunch time?! But, they are really delicious and the staff is extremely nice. They also have a cute bench with decor where you can take a cute pic. So overall. they have great donuts, but they are pricey, and I wish that they would open...
Read moreDonut prices are insane. $4 for a tiny donut. The boba tea prices are also bad. The milk tea was mid. $6 for a small canned drink not made fresh. I love mochi donuts since having them in Tokyo. There they are like $2 each there which is an appropriate price. It’s not hard or expensive to make them. This business model is doomed to fail.
They should lower the price and focus on selling volume instead of this. Offer six packs and dozens. Also way too many people working in the back. 2-3 people should be able to run...
