You know your barrister is a pro, when you ask how the coffee is? and the start with: "well when I dialed it In this morning"... hello? You dialed your coffee beans in? I'm a coffee snob. You have the right beans (which happens to be a custom South American blend, medium/bold with loads of nuttiness and a helping of amazing fruitiness/citrus), the right scale, tools and machine. I mean.. wow. What a machine. And then... the flavor. Oh my... I've literally just found the best coffee shop in LA. And that... is before the food! What on earth did we stumble on here! This brand new GEM of a cafe with a full size Italian pizza oven, with their hand tiled logo. That's just the start of the attention to detail. Spelt sourdough is usually dense and flat. Their 100% spelt SD is soft and has an incredible airy rise! The croissant is better than any I've tasted in the best parisian bakeries! I can't wait to come back for lunch as the pizza looks incredible. Did I mention the owner was super nice and is right there making the pizza - excited to make the pizza. Great cafe. Great location. My new spot for every...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBellaās Bread and Butter is such a hidden gem! Tucked behind a leafy garden on Melrose, it gives off total neighborhood bakery vibes warm, welcoming, and full of charm. Jack helped me out and was super friendly, recommending some of their favorites. I went with the chocolate and almond croissants (both incredible, but the almond croissant totally stole the show ; buttery, crispy, just sweet enough). I also tried their dragon fruit refresher, which had a gorgeous color but was a bit bland. Iād love to see it with lemonade or sparkling water for an extra pop! Bellaās isnāt just a grab and go bakery. Theyāve got a full menu of wood fired sourdough pizzas, sandwiches, toasts, salads, and cozy breakfast plates. Itās a great spot to sit and relax in the garden with a full meal. They even host sourdough workshops, which I thought was such a fun and community friendly touch! All in all, itās the kind of place you instantly want to come back to. Whether youāre in for a pastry, a pizza, or just the chill garden vibes, highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you still wanted to get the full selections of the pastries, highly recommended to pre-order for pick up as they're sold out fast. I did mine, hoping to get the Chocolate Almond Croissant but unfortunately only got the Almond one online. Reaching the venue I asked if they had the Choc Almond one and requested if I could swap. They nicely entertained it so long as I paid the difference, which I certainly didn't mind. However, as I enjoyed my croissant in their charming open-air back patio, I realized it's actually the almond one, left me in confusion LOL.
Nonetheless, I was still super pleased by my pastry. The almond croissant easily made it to my favorite-in-town list, being so generously stuffed with luscious almond paste. I might even say this was prolly most stuffed one I had ever tried. The buttery pastry base was also such spoiler to my palate. 100% would be coming back, hopefully with the right chocolate...
