Muy auténtico! (very authentic). This place is a little jewel in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. You could drive by without even seeing it, but you shouldn't. I found this place in the early 90's and it calls me back whenever I'm in the area. The food is fresh, delicious and the real deal. There are a couple of spots to park on the street out front that might be available, but if not, there are spaces in the back where I prefer to park. It's very cozy and quaint inside with only a few booths. It's not real fancy inside, but don't let that throw you. The stars of this place are the food and the hospitality.
The combo plates are the way to go. That way you can try a couple of different items and also get rice and beans. I really like the crispy tacos and the enchiladas, but you could throw a dart at the menu and anything would be really good. I usually go with horchata to drink. Everything is made to order and arrives very quickly. The atmosphere is casual and the people who work there are super nice. You can see there are often returning customers (a great sign) like myself who have found this spot and won't let go. They even put up with me practicing my poor Spanish when I order, which is muy apreciado (much appreciated). It's also a great place to grab a quick to-go order to savor at home.
This place is a rare find in these days of Chipotle and other corporate Latin food joints. Those places are fine and are what they are, but they will never have the authenticity and corazón (heart) of this place. I would much rather spend my money and time here and I hope you will, too. Go get yourself a taste of...
Read moreLISTEN!!!!! I just finished my asada burrito and HAD to post a review! The burrito is simple, and uncomplicated, but the flavors are not! MUCHO SABOR! I like a basic burrito because it's more authentic, and thecflavor blends are a lot easier to taste! I truly have enjoyed this burrito and the salsa! It's a tomato based salsa which I usually don't like, but I was told "you'll love it!" And I absolutely did! I couldn't even get pics because I was so focused on the burrito. I also got the Jamaica drink which was a bit sweeter than I am used to but still very delicious. The price seems a bit "high" but i promise the taste...you won't feel cheated at all. If anything you'll want to go back and give a few more dollars. Loved that it felt like my older sister/auntie (depending on your age) was just making me a burrito! GO GET A BURRITO NOW!!! What are you...
Read moreWe no longer live in the Valley, but this is THE PLACE for my favorite burrito! 🌯🌯 We live across and up in the mountains now. But I/we will drive clear across, braving freeways and all the traffic, to pick up our favorite Machaca Burritos 😋 I literally bought some of the inner makings last visit, to freeze, so we could make our own again later on at home... when the hankering hit 😉
Confirmed it last time there... and I wish I could remember his name, but the owner/chef 👨🍳 has been there for some forty five years! And I've been going there almost that long 🤭 lol He's never not been there
Always fresh & delish! 🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯 Seriously, never had a Machaca...
