Been going here for a nearly six years -- I love this restaurant. They have a plethora of great food and drink options and their quality is incredibly consistent. (And amazing coffee.) The staff is always polite and courteous, funny and personable, and the restaurant is clean and enjoyable.
If you haven't noticed, however, this restaurant is currently being basically doxxed/review-bombed by a bunch of 'personal rights' advocates who watched a livestream that happened near this restaurant, where an employee had to call the police to try and have the livestreamers removed from near the premises.
What this audience maybe doesn't know is that the web stream they are basing their 'opinions' of the restaurant from is made by a couple large and rather intimidating-looking dudes decked out in video equipment -- a Go-pro attached to a lycra bandolier, a DSLR on a gimbal connected to an iPhone, etc -- and these dudes go around filming people in a very invasive manner, ask prying questions, all to try and evoke a reaction out of the people they're filming. If the people being filmed respond in an even slightly less-than-friendly manner the dudes filming will bombard them with childish insults and harassments, further trying to evoke a reaction out of them. This is done in the guise of their advocating for public filming rights, or freedom of speech or something -- it's really clearly a scam act to try and get someone to assault them so they can litigate for money. (At the least they just get their rocks off getting into confrontations for no reason, and maybe use the streaming platform to monetize their proclivity for playing victim)
It's also worth mentioning that the streamers fly a banner of educating people about their rights insofar as public privacy -- one quip they use is 'It's just a camera, you have one in your pocket' to those who deign to ask they not be filmed -- of course ignoring the fact 99.99% of people are not whipping their phone out and filming their own day-to-day quotidian routines all the time, let alone those of strangers around them. To wit, whatever point the streamers have to make about public privacy is rendered somewhat moot by the fact that the dudes filming have their faces completely covered by quasi-tactical facemasks, sunglasses, and ballcaps -- so their odd fixation on the hypocrisy of public privacy in the social-media-smartphone-era smacks of something less than sincerity.
This restaurant is great and the staff do not deserve any of the ridiculous harassment that's been levied their way (fans of the livestream have been calling and badgering the employees, by the way). Hopefully this bit of insight into what the filming of these livestreams look like in person helps their audience understand how their own feelings might be different about the events if they were there to witness it themselves or, indeed, be...
Read moreWent here for breakfast on a late Sunday morning. Place has partial table service, order at counter and food brought to your table. Three of us at the table, discovered that we were looking at different menus but almost the same. One of the menus was marked Spring/Summer and was missing some options. Went to counter to place order, Caucasian older female was at register taking order. Only offering description because it appears that the staff rotate at the register and I want to be specific about who was taking my order. When placing my order I pointed out that the menus were different and she responded with, "no they're not", dismissing what I was pointing out. No big deal but my mentioning it was in an effort to be helpful to the restaurant. She was proficient at taking my order which included one coffee. After paying and tipping in advance as they said they were credit only, she presented me with a coffee mug and told me the server would be over with water for the table. I sat myself down at my table waited fifteen minutes, waiting for coffee staring at an empty mug when fortunately I noticed another patron taking their mug to another area in the restaurant which made me realize that the coffee was self-serve, never told that by the wonderful cashier. After sitting for another five minutes, finally someone came with a bottle of water with plastic cups. We waited over twenty minutes and nearly a half an hour for two plates of pancakes and an omelette. The servings are huge. With the pancakes you have the option of a single for $4.25 or a stack for $11.00. Do not order the stack unless you haven't eaten in a week as each pancake is approximately 10" in diameter and almost a half inch thick. One plate of pancakes which consisted of two pancakes, the top one was over cooked on both sides and cut like shoe leather. Their appeared to be no complaints with the other stack which were chocolate chip. I ordered a spinach, tomato, feta omelette with sour dough toast and hash browns. The toast and hash browns were fine, the omellete was a little over cooked and had a sour taste from the feta which instead of in the omellete was on top of it. They also server bakery items which looked absolutely delicious however cant speak for the quality as didn't order any of them. Food was not terrible, would not say I wouldn't go back if no other alternatives. Unfortunate that the cashier who started my experience left me sour as did the omelette. When I went to get my first cup of coffee their was a server by the coffee station who was very helpful with pointing at the different carafes that were there. The place is clean, the plates and...
Read moreI know everyone raves about the food here and it's okay if you order something that is fresh and is going to be cooked fresh, they serve biscuits and if your unfortunate to get one they had sitting around for a while it's going to be hard like a rock, like I did when I went there. But that's not the reason why I am giving this place a 1 star review it is because unfortunately for me I got charged twice on my debit card for the same amount when I only went there once last year ! I went there and paid and I check all my accounts on a regular basis and I noticed the charge I called my bank first and told them about the charge and said it was going to be looked at, I then called this business and ask to speak to the manager and told them about the issue instead of Apologizing for the mistake that was made by their part, he just says oh a lot of our customers have been getting charge twice , that I need to call my bank and let them know . Not once did they apologize and that's one reason why I don't like going to small owned business if you do a mistake in your part apologize and offer a refund. Imagine going there once and getting charge twice a month since the first time you went there that's b.s. I would never go to this place ever again even by paying cash money as a consumer you choose what you make profit and a half decent place in the valley that charges you twice, I'll...
