I went for a salsa night at this bar two nights ago with a couple friends. My friend was a bartender there and it’s the reason why I ended up going. From the jump the bartenders didn’t seem to attend our group I guess because we were affiliated with the new bartender that was working there. The night was fine at first until I got attacked by the owner of the place next door, I believe he goes by the name GEO. To add some context I was socializing, having fun and dancing salsa. I was only two drinks in, and everything seemed fine. Everything happened when I accidentally took a sip of someone’s drink that was right next to mine, it was a girl next to me and I was unaware it was hers until she told me. I apologized and offered to buy her a new one and my bartender friend ( will not say a name for legal reasons) made her a new one. It was settled, the girl got her new drink I apologized and everything was all good. Some reason, the other bartenders that are very cliquesh and power tripping accused me of stealing drinks and sent this guy “ geo” to escort me out. He was really drunk and aggressive so he came out of no where and grabbed me from behind without any warning. No one told me I had to leave, no one told me anything. I wasn’t causing a problem, I was genuinely having a good night with friends because I’m really not the type of person to cause problems and I have many people that can vouch for that. So to be attacked like that unexpectedly left me confused and angered. So after he grabbed me we started to fight in which we started knocking things down and breaking things and we ended up outside on the floor. That’s when I saw red and defended myself. Where was security ? I don’t know. I ended up fighting this small dude named GEO who’s the owner next door for no apparent reason and let’s just say it didn’t end to well for him as I’m a United States military veteran. If they had a problem with me why didn’t anyone tell me they had a problem? Why didn’t security tell me I had to leave ? I was attacked and left with eye bruises and a sprained hand for no apparent reason. after the fight I was so furious because I had no idea why I was attacked and I asked security and the other people in charge of the night and they all said “ idk”. When the police came they told the police that I was stealing drinks which is laughable because how was I stealing drinks if my friend WAS the bartender ? I have witnesses and police report ready. I will be suing and seeking a criminal charge against this place and the guy who attacked me. I don’t even write reviews for places so for me to do this it had to be a lot. It will all come to the light soon and let me just add this, why is the owner drunk while he’s working ? GEO was intoxicated while working the night. The event was a collaboration between his business and catcher in the rye. Please avoid this place at all costs. You guys will be hearing from my...
Read moreCame here last night after a friend of mine said she'd heard many great things about it! We walked over from a bar down the street, and from the outside alone this place was already charming. When we walked in we were greeted by the bartender who was all smiles and told us we could sit anywhere we liked (it was 11PM on a Sunday night, so it wasn't packed at all). There's "lounge seating" on sofas and several tables that seat two people or larger groups. I also spotted an area that mimicked a library, which was obviously cool! Once we sat down, the waitress/bartender brought over all their menus, water (yessss!) and we are all entertained by how witty the names of the cocktails were. I had previously drank at the bar earlier so I was more interested in the food! The waitress offered food and drink suggestions for our party.
I got the 561 sliders, which are Angus beef patties topped with Brie cheese and a quail egg. There's also arugula and avocado. They come in three and they were absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly for me (medium well) and the egg was a nice topping. I also got the corn dish which was AMAZING. Almost life changing really. Spicy, smokey, salty, and just so good. It had this avocado cream and red sauce that complimented each other well. Per my gal pals, the drinks were delicious as well!
My only complaint is that the food took a while to get to our table.. There was only one other party, so not sure why it took so long. Perhaps because it was late at night? Not a major issue though!
Overall, so glad we decided to check this place out! Very cozy, the food is great, drinks are good and I got a kick out of its theme. I just have to add that our waitress (didn't get her name) was also very considerate! I was obviously loving the water there, so she made it a point to make sure we had a full bottle of water whenever we'd finish one. I can't wait...
Read moreThis place was dead from 8:30 to 10pm on a Saturday night. I sat at the bar since there was no wait staff for the all but one empty tables. The bartender was sweet and I enjoyed our conversation. I went by myself to get out of the house, and to just be in a lively atmosphere, which this was not.
I ordered the steak tacos for $12, and the the three pathetic tacos had just steak grounds from the bottom of the skillet that maybe filled 1/4 of each of the tortillas. There was a spattering of yellow onions, and specks of cilantro on top. The steak had no seasoning, but luckily it was served with salsa which I doused the tacos in for flavor and to help fill the tortillas, which was still not much. Also, the presentation was lackluster. I was super let down that I paid $12 for what was worth maybe $3 since the amount of meat between the 3 tacos was almost enough to fill one actual taco sold from a street vendor for $2.50.
I also order the parmesan garlic fries for another $12. They didn't offer it in a side order size, but I figured I'd bring the leftovers home. Well, there were no leftovers because the serving size was that of a side of fries. They were hot and tasty, though.
For my drink, I order their signature take on an Old Fashion which was very good, but fairly expensive. I also order a second drink called the Stay Gold Pony Boy, and it was a strange mix of flavors that didn't work, and it was too sweet. I didn't even finish it.
Overall, I would not recommend this place for more than a drink or two of their signature Old Fashion. I won't...
