Choony's Donuts & Bagel Co. — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Thursday I was working on the area, as it was lunch time I wanted to get a quick bite and iced coffee, as the 1st place I went was close I looked around and I spotted this place and I decided to drive. When I got there all I was focused on, was the food. I look up the menu on the wall and started to see what I was going to order. The most stupid part from my side,and I admit is my fault, is that at this point I didn't even noticed that I didn't have my wallet, and I kept looking at the menu, but because of reflection of the sun I didn't have a clear view of the menu, I told her I wanted to get a pastrami sandwich, 1 vanilla iced coffee and 1 mocha and I saw there was a turkey pesto but I couldn't see chicken pesto, and I wanted to try chicken pesto, then I asked the lady who was working if by any chance they had chicken pesto, and not so happy she told the number , then I looked and there it was, but it was on bagel, then I told her if she could do a croissant. anyway, the at this moment I knew I'm screwed up, I realized that I didn't have my wallet then I told her to cancel the order cause I didn't have my wallet,then I stepped out of the shop to check if I had any money in my car but unlucky me I didn't. Then I went back inside, as I believe this lady was busy in the kitchen I called her and with a bad mood she yield im coming, when she came to the front I politely asked her if they accept zelle, and then she said to me; look there, and I saw a sign that says cash only I felt way more stupid, but again I was just focusing on the food it was around noon, a very hot day all I wanted was food and coffee, then I apologize and left. After being in this bad experience I decided to put some cash in the car for emergency. If I lived in the valley I could have gone home . I always believe that things happen for a reason. The whole point to my bad experience is that I would not recommend this place to anyone if this person is going to take care of costumers with that attitude, no wonder why there was nobody in line nor eating there. Again I admit it was my fault for not bringing my wallet and not paying attention to the cash only sign, but there are manners to talk to costumers, is not that I had the food ready and at this point I just had realized that I don't...

The bagel sandwiches are so good. I think for the price you’re getting great quality and a nice portion. I’m pretty picky about my bacon, and they serve great bacon. I will say that sometimes they don’t carry their entire menu, which can be a little sad. However I think that that really speaks to have fresh their baked goods are. Really great staff too. I moved to Sylmar from NY during the pandemic to be close to family. I was happy to leave much of the East coast behind except for a few creature comforts that NY is good at providing. One of those things is bagels. I thought for sure I wouldn’t find a good bagel in LA but I have been proven wrong and I don’t even have to leave Sylmar to get them. Nice work Choony’s!
