Don Antonio’s is one of those rare places where food, history, and family come together effortlessly. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends. We sat in the cave, which created a warm and intimate atmosphere that felt like a big family gathering. The history of this restaurant is present in every detail. It has been family-owned for generations, and you can feel that pride in both the food and the service. Adam, part of the third generation, was so gracious and attentive, carrying on a tradition built on heart and hospitality. The food and drinks were unforgettable. The margaritas were truly some of the best I have ever had, and every plate was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. We had such a great time that the drinks were flowing and laughter filled the night, leaving me with only a few photos to share. I will definitely be back to add more to the collection. Don Antonio’s is more than a restaurant. It is an experience, a piece of Los Angeles history, and a celebration of family tradition. With delicious food, incredible drinks, and hospitality that makes you feel at home, this is a place you will want to return to again and again.

One of my very favorite Mexican restaurants in LA. I grew up in San Diego and have lived LA for many years now so I have had many great Mexican meals and would say this place is definitely quality. Service was quick and everyone did a great job. It’s impossible to make reservations so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a 7:30 Saturday dinner. They don’t have a parking lot so you’re only option will be street parking or neighborhood parking behind the restaurant. To start I chose a cup of the Albondigas Soup and honestly loved it. I could’ve easily ordered the bowl and definitely would get it again next time. For my entree, I chose one of my favorite dishes: The Chile Colorado. It was well cooked and it was a large portion size. For dessert, we chose the Xango and it was terrific. A great end to the meal. Overall I would recommend to any fan of Mexican food and I definitely plan to be back many times in the future.

I've been going to Don Antonio's off and on for over 30 years. It's always been a great place to meet up with longtime locals and good friends. On any given Saturday or Sunday us natives find old friends from high school at the bar or having lunch with they're families. Maybe it was the covid situation, sitting outside, etc.. but the restaurant had lost it's welcoming atmosphere. The food also went down in quality. Sometimes you have to move those line Cooks around to keep them Sharp. I will definitely be back but I hope the stuffy Little Couple next to me and the pretentious mom of the family across from me aren't there. Without doubt the East Coasters (and others) have found one of our hidden local favorites. As expected they've brought their non-California ugliness to one of our gems. Sad but true. Even the staff roles their eyes and endures. Good luck. Enjoy S

This Westside hotspot has been a local favorite for years...especially on Taco Tuesdays. But when NY cheesecake is the best thing on the menu, it's time to reconsider where to eat your next Mexican meal.

Drinks had: Mango margaritas (very weak), Paloma (meh), Horchata (meh), but the Coke was pretty good actually.

Food had: Steak picado was the best thing we ordered. Abundant meat and not too tough. Pork Super Burrito was severely lacking in pork. I counted exactly 6 dice sized chunks. Hard shelled beef Tacos were ok, but greasy and broken. Mixed Fajitas were large in portion, but the shrimp was very fishy smelling. The Tamales were not bad, with a delicious sauce. But you can tell they used pork fat in the corn meal so keep that in mind.

Desserts: We tried the Xango, which was a cross between a Canoli and a Churro. It came with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and was pretty good. The Flan was a major disappointment. Firstly, it was the soft custard kind, not the firm classic caramel type. Secondly, it tasted like they used plain gelatin and mixed it with Horchata. Plus, the sides were burned and had a burned taste. Two people in my party left at least 1/2 of theirs. But the NY cheesecake was creamy, airy, lightly drizzled with strawberry sauce and topped with whipped cream. Although not as interesting as the Xango, it was delicious and everyone who tasted it wished they had ordered it.

Value was practically nonexistent since it was a relatively expensive meal considering the quality of the food and the weak margaritas.

Didn't earn 5 stars; wasn't excellent! Didn't earn 4 stars; wasn't pretty good. Gave it 3 stars for being just OK.

Go if you want, but for the money and taste, I would rather...

$1 taco Wednesday, that's what this place is all about. You can go to your favorite taco place just because it's Tuesday but you cannot beat a place you can sit down at for tacos and even the drinks are like happy hour prices. Margaritas and beers of your choice, chips and salsa, if you cannot find a meter spot, leave it with the valet. Just don't get too smashed that you forget to tip the valet guy and grab your keys before you go across the street. You know what's across the street if you have ever been here standing around waiting for your name to be called.

A long long time ago, ok, maybe 5 years ago, Amber B. and quite a few of her friends would come here every week. I would drive from the East heading West just for tacos. Amber would always rave about the potato tacos. I think I have only tried it once. I stick to the carnitas, carne asada, pollo, pretty much the regular stuff. $2 beers to wash it all down or you can get drinks before you get seated. Cannot beat the price for either food or drinks. Sitting out in the patio really is great during the summer months. If you're like me, you won't be gazing at the night sky or any of the stars. My head is down working on this taco I'm handling.

I didn't write a review until now because this was one of the best kept secrets of Los Angeles. Now that Yelp has more than a few hundred reviews, ok, over 800 reviews the word is definitely out there. What that also means is this place gets even more packed than before. Once you sit down, you don't want to leave. It's that kind of place especially when you're here with a group of friends. Senor, mas...

FANTASTIC!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!! 🌮🔥 From the second I walked in, I felt like I had stumbled into the very HEART of Mexico. The smells, the colors, the energy—pure magic. ✨

Let’s start with the food: every single bite was a flavor explosion that had me questioning all my life choices before finding this place. The tacos? Absolute perfection—juicy, tender, seasoned like they were kissed by the taco gods themselves. 🌮🌮 The salsa had just the right kick (I swear it was dancing on my taste buds 💃), and don’t even get me started on the guacamole—creamy, fresh, and so good it should be illegal. 🥑

The service? Beyond phenomenal. It felt like family was welcoming me home after years away. Smiles everywhere, lightning-fast service, and staff who genuinely care whether you’re enjoying every bite (spoiler: I was losing my mind with joy).

The atmosphere is like a fiesta that never ends—bright, lively, and absolutely brimming with soul. 🎉🎶 I left grinning ear to ear, already planning my next visit before I even got to the car.

This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an EXPERIENCE. If you haven’t eaten here yet, drop what you’re doing, cancel your plans, and get yourself a seat ASAP. Your stomach, your heart, and your soul will...
