Don Zarape Mexican Food — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I used to LOVE this place. It was a weekly or better take away for me. The staff even started to know me. I just now am CHANGING my review of this place to 1 star now however

First - the hours are completely unpredictable. They randomly close early without notice and without posted time changes. How can you go there with that?

Next, the service of the food and the quality has dropped. While it is FAR better than the location on Vineland (big difference in quality there for the worse at that location) there quality at this location has dropped A LOT lately.

The customer service is just rude lately. Not sure their issue but its bad.

And, to cap it off, today they went up $1.00 on a formally $10.00 item. They raised their rates literally 10%. I have always gone here to support a local business but that raise is just too much. Your service drops, your quality drops, your hours drop on a dime. But, HEY! the only thing to go up is your rates!!!!

At some point can't be loyal and can't say its ok. At this point - gotta go back to the bigger places. Sorry, .lost a customer...

This Mexican restaurant at Don Zarape deserves every one of its five stars. I absolutely adored my experience here; it was our inaugural visit, and it exceeded our expectations. Despite the early closing time at 6 pm, we managed to arrive at 5 pm, giving us a satisfying hour to enjoy our meal. Next time, I'll be sure to arrive even earlier. Service was unreasonably slow; the server was snippy, at first. Was horribly disappointed in the chilaquiles because they had such good reviews. Very bland. Over Easy Eggs were over hard, tasted like they were cooked in old grease, couldn't eat them. Chips, salsa and Jamaica hit the spot! Decided I'd chalk off the bad service to the heat their AC wasn't working very well that'd make any server slow and moody so I left a good tip. Doubt that...
