Don Zarape Restaurant #2 — Restaurant in Los Angeles

First time I tried this place, I ordered an albóndigas soup and a torta de asada (mexican steak sub) for pick up, the albóndigas soup was great! I loved the veggies, seemed so hand made and not out of a can (which many places do) they gave me a portion or rice for my soup which was also really good, with some condiments and lemons. The torta was for my son so I only asked for the meat and beans, no veggies, it was great! He loved it, he calls it Mexican burger lol, it looked like the bread was also grilled which gave it a better taste, finally I want to mention the salsas that came with the order, the salsa have such a different home-y taste that I rarely find in other Mexican restaurants, I loved it! If they put effort in the salsa they will definitely put effort and love in their dishes. I'm definitely going back! The pricing was good as well, I didn't spend more than expected. Definitely not over priced. Customer service...

They are not consistent with the taco size.They have the small taco and the big taco but when you order the big tacos on Sunday they are the size of the small tacos. They cheat you on the meat. I also ordered a Carne Asada Borito and it was mainly all rice, Again they cheat you on the meat. When I told the lady who charged me for the taco about the size and that it was small she told me that's the taco they gave you. How rude. I was really craving a big taco thats reoson why I went there. I was upset and was thinking twice about eating the taco because when food enters your system and gets into your blood it could be bad for your health. Dont eat food when your mad or upset, but the costumer service and lack of understanding really disturbe me.I Should of gone to Subway and gotten a 5 dollar sub then to spend 11 dollars and some change on some side orders in a tortilla. This is a little Mexican food place that has been in this area for years and years. They also have a second location. This is the one I go to the most. This place is... Okay. The food is pretty traditional. It's very straight to the point Mexican fare. Which is not at all a bad thing. The issue I have here is the consistency of the food. It sometimes is outstanding, it sometimes isn't. I guess you can say that about tons of restaurants though... The prices are also a bit steep. However! They do have a fantastic perk. They have a enormous barbecue in which they use to grill chickens. SO. MANY. CHICKENS. And those are really good. I go there to eat the chicken. Just the chicken. That to me, is the only consistently good thing about this place. Order yourself a half or a whole chicken, get a cup of their nice spicy salsa, grab a Coke, and you're set. You don't need...
